Question re: GM vs Usher

Is there a difference between the 2?

Is anyone having GMS and separate ushers?

Any insight would help a lot - there is a difference of opinion b/w FH, his family/my family - In the end we will do what we think is best, but I was curious what is customary?

I think now-a-days, there is no difference. Ushers show people to their seats, GM are like BMs, but now people just have the GMs show people to their seats.
