Question.. RE: Saying 'hi' to people you don't know at your own wedding.

Original post by AMGBride2008

So, every once in a while I get all nervous about having to go around to all of the tables at my wedding to say hi to people that I don't know very well... Now I'm getting all nervous about going around to tables of people I don't know at all.

What did you do in this situation?? My mom is inviting quite a few friends from work... I don't know them! Will I have to make sure my mom is with me when I go to greet them? I know it's a silly question, but I want to be prepared and not make anyone feel bad...

I went to ALL my tables while everyone was eating there pasta. Out of the 14 tables on my side I new pretty much everyone...there were only about 4 people from my dad's job that I didn't know but my dad came to the table with me.

It'll be okay! Trust me...they will be so happy and honored that you invited them.

i seriously FREAKED about this for my shower. i was SO nervous about it on the way while FH was driving me. i was like what am i going to say to your cousins etc.

i got there and i went around and gave everyone a hug and a kiss i couldnt believe it. people ive seen like 1ce i was hugging and kissing hello because i was just so happy and excited. i went around and made small talk and it was easier than i thought. people talk to you and you mostly just have to listen or answer questions about the wedding.

it will be easier than you think.

and remember youll have FH there with you @ the wedding!

Re: Question.. RE: Saying 'hi' to people you don't know at your own wedding.

I remember being in the receiving line and i'd finish saying hi to one person and turn to say hi to the next and i wouldn't know them...I tried to not have it show on my face...but i'm sure it did...i just smiled and thanked them so much for coming!

As for the tables I would just do as others said. Stop and say hi and thank you for coming. Will you know what table has the co workers at it? If so let them know how happy you are that they are there. and make it quick

i actually have this fear for my wedding and for my shower! there are some long lost relatives that i may not recognize and i just think its going to be really awkward and uncomfortable if they show

I was sooo nervous about this for my shower b/c it was all FH's great Aunts most of whom I met once or not at all and they aren't coming to the wedding. I didn't even have him as a crutch at the shower, though he probably wouldn't have known must of them anyway It wasn't too bad though, a lot of them introduced themselves to me and my mom was very good about introducing herself and making small talk so I just tagged along and turned on the charm. It was actually good not to have FH in the end because I got to know them. You'll be having such a great time at the CH and Recpetion that things won't be awkward.

This sounds crazy but I was glad there were a few people I didn't know...I really like meeting new people, and it was a fun way to make new friends.
