Question regarding Thank You's

A family member is unable to attend our wedding however they sent us a gift. I want to send them a thank you now and then I will send a thank you again after the wedding. I feel funny just disregarding the fact that they sent us a wedding gift and I feel like I should also send another thank you with our picture. What have you guys done? TIA

I sent a TY when received and will send a picture TY whenever I get them.

I would do the same thing...send an informal thank you now acknowledging the gift, and then a thank you with your picture after the wedding, once you have them.

i sent an thank you when i received the gift & then send them another one with the picture.

do you believe almost 2 months later we are still getting some gifts. so stock up on the thank you cards.
