question-tipping vendors

Hi, girls...
What is the standard percentage to tip a vendor?

Thanks

I think 'standards' have gone out the window.

Tipping has been debated repeatedly on these boards (do a search) and I still don't know what I am going to do. It depends on various factors, some being:

is there a tip/service fee written in the contract?
is a tip calculated in the final cost?
do these vendors work for themselves?
did they provide outstanding service?

Martha says this, but in the end one really needs to use his/her own best judgment...

Even if tip is calculated in your contract I think that you should tip on top of that. A lot of time the servers do not see those tips. I will probably tip each bartender 100 and each server 25. Also tip the cook and baker 50/100. BM 100
DJs 100 for each
Florist 100/200
Makeup/Hair 20%
Video 100
Photo 100
Piano Player 100
I dont think it matters whether it is the vendors own business if they do the work and they do a good job - I say thip em anyway.

Re: question-tipping vendors

ill probably also give bartender $100, servers $20 or 25...
Matre D they say like $1-3 per person(mine will be like $150)
Bridal Attendant $75
DJ $75 each
photo $100
Video $100
any assistant $50
Florist delivery guy $20
limo $50 (most places tack on 20% but if the driver is good then you may want to tip)

if your having it at a church:
alter servers $20 each(2 of them)
priest (varies)

People i think you dont need to tip are,
Banquet manager(they get commision)
Cooks, Bakers, Florist

20% for each service
i don't think you tip the band... otherwise it would end up being little for each person depending on the size of the band

limo companies have gratuity included and the limo driver gets it

When do you tip the photgrapher, videographer and their assitants? After the reception? When you see your proofs? When you get your album and DVD?
