I am seriously considering booking with them for this summer (Aug 2010). I am going for a tasting on Saturday, then I will decide if I am going with them based on their food.
I was wondering how many of you have encountered issues with not being the only party there? I know they only have one main bathroom and I can imagine that it could get a little busy in there. I just wanted to know what were others experience with that.
Also if were any other drawbacks to the wedding site. Please share!!

Re: Question to all my Douglaston Manor brides...
There is an offical Douglaston Manor thread on BHB board...and there is a recent review on the Reviews board.
I looked into them as well..they were our 2nd choice..it's really beautiful there. We had a company function there but it was during the week so there really was no bathroom issues

Re: Question to all my Douglaston Manor brides...
My wedding is in May and in the Grand Ballroom. I gather other events could be going on in the smaller room we'll be using for the cocktail hour if it rains. Otherwise the CH is outside. There's another smaller room upstairs.
The bottom line is that they stagger these events. So during my cocktail hour, there shouldn't be people in both Grand and smaller banquet rooms. After that, we'll be in the Grand Ballroom so the only issue would be bathroom. I can't worry about that as many places host more than one event at a time but they also stagger them so they overlap.
If anything, it wouldn't be a wedding I don't think. Those other rooms are smaller. I've visited where there was a Christening party and a wedding going on at the same time if that helps.

Me too! I know not to expect everything to be perfect. I feel lucky to have found a beautiful place that I can afford where people aren't being packed into a small area! Yeyyyyy!!

I was told to wait until I chose the BM dresses and then to bring the swatch to Cress florist. I am just about to do that so I am soon to visit Cress florists. I did speak with the guy there and he seemed VERY accomodating and nice.
Thing is, I went with the Complete Wedding Package with Ariana Studios and DM. I didn't go with the Ariana flower lady so I got DM's house florist, which is Cress, in place of it which I would highly recommend. So, I only have to pay for my BM''s bouquets. They include my bouquet, my MOH and all the rest of the bridal party, moms, centerpieces etc. But, I suspect they are reasonably priced.
Hope that helps.

I def need to get chair covers. I'm so in love with The Douglaston, but I do not like their chairs. I'm meeting with Cress florist tomorrow actually, so I can let you know how that goes!

Glad it was perfect 7 years ago. I know DM has recently been recently renovated. Not sure how long ago? Two years? I hear it's much better now even!

I decided NOT to use the chair covers. I have to be choosy on what to splurge on and where I can cut. They don't offer the chair covers so that's an extra cost. I thought the chairs there were fine. The legs of the chairs could be more classy but in general, I thought it offered a nice contrast to the white table clothes.
FH doesn't like 'the sheets on the chairs' look, as he puts it anyway. However, if you see Princess Trockel aka Natalie's wedding on here, her chair covers with the pink sashes tying in her pink color scheme, looks very nice.
I also have pics of the chairs and the tables. I can't seem to upload them on here ever. Let me try.

Perhaps the file is too large to upload. I'll size it down.
BTW, I have lots of pics of Doug Manor and some weddings. I've created a Facebook page where I am the administrator. Some of us on this DM site are on that FB page. Find it on Facebook and you'll see more pics.

Re: Question to all my Douglaston Manor brides...
I did chaircovers at Douglaston Manor.
Here is a link ......the 10th pic down shows them. I had them done by DONNA FROM TABLEWEAR (a LIW vendor) she was AMAZING!!!!! There was even a crystal brooch on every one of my pink sashes----I have to find a photo.
I guess we are on here now instead of the Douglaston Manor Official Site?
We can still use that one on BHB----I'll bump it up in case people have more questions.

Yeah, bump it up! I am getting closer to my free LI weddings T-shirt by the day! Tomorrow, BM dresses finally!!! That has been the hardest.
