hey ladies i need your opinions...a hall i really liked had some options that i need to decide on, they have premium bar and cocktail hour is 10 hour d'eurves 5 chafing dishes and 4 carving tables...now heres the question: in order to be able to afford it FH and i need to subtract and add somethings or keep it what it is, we can either leave the premium bar and CH as is and have it a 5 hour affair no viennese or we can make the bar standard (still open bar of course) and make the cocktail hour go to 10 hour d'eurves,3 chafing dishes, and 2 carving table but then can add an hour with viennese... so which do you think is better? theres a poll to vote and thanks for all your help!!

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
I would cut down to add the viennese, but the viennese is my favorite part so I am a little biased. I'm SURE that my FI would disagree with me. I guess it depends on what you like better, but it seems like if you cut down a little you will get to have all 3 (CH, Bar, & V).

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
Leave the CH and bar. The only thing I never eat at the CH is the carving station. Maybe you could leave some things off the CH and the VH and get both.

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
I think my crowd would care more for the booze and less for the desserts - I could be wrong- I would cut out the Viennese...

ditto on that. I LOVE desserts, but I would fear mutiny if I cut down on the alcoholic options

I would leave the cocktail hour as is. I love dessert but I don't really like the VH, the wedding cake is supposed to be the dessert. JMO!

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
I would leave the CH. By the time the VH comes along people are so stuffed they just pick at the stuff anyway. CH people haven't eaten anything yet, so they will eat a lot. Cutting down on the alcohol is never a good idea

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
I would keep it as is. People are really into the CH. The VH is less important. if you have a good CH, people will be full by then anyway!!! Plus top shelf liquor is essential

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
I was never a fan of VH because I feel they bring a party to a screeching halt - I have seen it happen. You can do very elegant dessert options served at a person's seat. I think a CH sets a great tone for a party and gets people very excited for what else is to come.

Re: QUESTION!?!about reception
No doubt, cocktail hour. I have been to many weddings with viennes tables. Sure its nice looking but half the wedding guest don't even get up. It is so much wasted food. Have your cake and some cookies and pastrys on every table. Or just add a scoop of ice cream when guest get a piece of wedding cake.
