ok.. i am a part of my shower planning because i dont want my BP to feel pressured to plan everything.. I'm more of the type that does everything myself and i dont feel comfortable when people try to do things for me.... ok so here is the deal. my friend(one of my BMs) work a minado(next to roosevelt field mall) and her manager said she will give us the party room at a discounted price... but here is the thing the party room is only private on weekdays and on weekends its open to the public. (weekend meaning friday, saturday, & sunday). so in order to have a private bridal shower i would have to have it on a week day dinner(mon, tues, wed, thurs.) and i cant afford to have it anywhere else because its so expensive unless i have it at someones house (i also dont what my BP to feel pressured to pay i would let them pay alittle each but not more than 100) is it weird to have a shower on a thursday evening or do you think its a bad idea considering everyone works that day and the next day?? i'm worried people wont show.....
one more thing mostly everyone lives in queens(flushing area) so its alittle far)
also, is FH invited to the shower'??

Re: question/advise for shower.
i personally feel a weekday is a bit tough, esp for people like me who work late. that being said, i would probably do everything i could to make it. what is the discounted price you got? i can try to help you match it someplace in queens for a weekend.

Re: question/advise for shower.
Flushing isn't that far from Roosevelt Field, so I wouldn't worry about that.
When does the place open? Can they just open the room for you for say 11-3 or something?
Typically, no FH does not come to the shower.

Re: question/advise for shower.
how many people do you plan to invite? i don't know what your budget is or where you've alerady looked, but there are a lot of inexpensive places in Queens that let you have a private room on weekends.
I've always envisioned a shower as a relaxing and fun 'girls' day out' especially for the older ladies who may not go out often with their girlfriends anymore. I suppose you could have the same experience on a thursday evening, but for me personally it just wouldn't be the same, especially if the next day i had to work and couldn't stay late.
Could the place you're looking at maybe do a saturday or sunday morning breakfast or brunch instead of lunch?

HONESTLY, i think its better off to do it at a house then. Its hard on weekdays sometimes for ppl to get somewhere by a certain time. Ive been to bridal showers at a home and it was great. I also think it would be better than having it in a store that is open for business
FH took me to the shower bc it was a surprise so it was his job. He came in said hello to everyone, stayed a few mins and then left

I wouldn't do it on a weekday either.... Go with someone's house...
(this is why you shouldn't be involved, you have enough going on)

Re: question/advise for shower.
i could have it at someones house but none of my BMs have a big enough house to hold 20 people...... my sisters best friend(shes like family) has a big house but i cant ask... and i also feel bad asking anyone to borrow their house..

I HAD open bar but after my shower i found out its not common. So many girls on here have just wine and beer which is included in the price. So you can do it just dont have open bar. I know a place that is in that price range and might be able to accomodate you with 20 guests, not 100% sure but theres no harm in trying. Its in queens so thats why im suggesting it

Re: question/advise for shower.
Why not try having it on July 3rd which is a Thursday this year, so that you can get the private room, plus it'll be one month before your wedding date, so it works out perfectly. Talk to the manager to see if that date is okay. The only down side to that is that its a day before a long weekend, so people might be included to go on vacation. hope this helps.

Don't doubt your Bridesmaids, they might end up planning something great. If anything you can always refer them to bridemaids sites like
Thats where I went to figure out what to do for my friend when she was the first one to get married out of all of us.
