Kind of a strange question but when you go dress shopping does someone really absolutley have to help you put the dress on? I am extremely shy with things like that (I won't even wear a bathing suit in front of FI's family!). Please tell me there is a way around this! Thanks for the help!

Re: Question/concern about dress shopping
i am really shy of people seeing me naked- what i did was bring my own strapless corstet bra and wear to try on dresses - then i would ask for the crinoline slip and have her step out while i put that on- and you are pretty much dressed again and do not have to worry anymore

Re: Question/concern about dress shopping
Hmmm...I definitely needed someone to help me into the dresses.....but it didn't have to be a salesperson, it could've just been my mom or sister. Can you bring someone with you...like your mom...and have her help?

Re: Question/concern about dress shopping
The first place I went to I tried them on myself, with my BM in the dressing room with me. The second place I went, (a very well known bridal store in brooklyn) the sales lady came brought me about 6 dresses, and WITH my mom, sister, and BM in the room, looked at me and said 'Ok strip!'
I was very happy I decided not to wear a thong that day. I think I had more than enough help to get into their dresses without the help of a snooty lady I just met, seeing me almost naked,

It depends on the place. Bridal Relflections has someone help you put dresses on. It is a little embarassing, but it is a big help. You shouldn't wear a thong, that's just gross someone's else's coolie touching yours and no one wants to see it!!
Bridal reflections still doesn't let me put my own dress on that I own!! I LOVE IT!! cause I don't want anything to happen to it and I am sure they feel the same way with the samples.

I think if you bring someone with you they will let them help you...I learned a trick...The little things that hang inside the dress ( to hold on the hanger) Put those on the bar in the dressing room, hold the dress out and crawl in..worked like a charm!
Others places where they came in, I just put it out of my mind...people come in all shapes/sizes , BUT Im not shy at all, I wouldnt worry yourself over it...
HAve someone with you and they can help

Re: Question/concern about dress shopping
I think most places have someone help you get into the dresses.. I was shy about this at first.. but think about it- this is what these ladies do for a living.. you are just another body to them and they are not analyzing you. After the first time I didn't really care.. And I would prefer to be half naked in front of a stranger than half my family.. but that's just me.

Don't be shy. It's a little weird at first but you get used to it. These ladies do this for a living. Word of advice though- don't wear a thong! I almost forgot.. that would have been embarrasing.

Re: Question/concern about dress shopping
Well, if you go to David's you might not have to worry about it! I went there first and had my sister with me. The saleswoman began helping me put on the dresses, but then had to help other customers and then just left me and my sis alone, which was fine with me. The second shop i went to, the sales woman helped me. I think I really did need help, because It is tough to get those big poufy dresses over your head by yourself and not catch anything, especially if you are wearing jewelry. I did wear my own bra under the dresses in the second shop, and at Davids, she left me alone while I put on the crinoline and the corset bra.
