Question...E-Party

How long is too long to have your engagement party after you get engaged? We got engaged 9/4/10 and really can't afford anything before the holidays, so I was thinking Feb 2011 but my FH would like nicer weather...like May/June. Is that too long? Wedding date will be Oct/Nov 2012.

Help!!! I have no idea what I am doing!!

We got engaged 5/4/10...FHs mom wanted a party asap so we're having one 10/17/10.

Otherwise I wanted to have it next summer!

Since you are having a long engagement, 6-9 months after should be fine

This is the same issue I am having. We got engaged on 9/2 and our wedding is going to be in April 2012. We would have loved to have it at my mom's house, but we don’t think we have the room without her backyard… My mother wants it to be this Nov, but I got her to push it off till Jan. My mother read in all wedding books that you should do it ASAP so she said I can't wait till May.. She is the one paying for it so I don’t have much say…. but I don’t think it is a big deal if you wait 6 months when your weddings is a year and half away.

Most bridal books are written assuming the engagement is one year... but if you are having a longer engagement I think it's perfectly fine to have your eparty later. Tell your mom there are plenty of brides on LIW that had them after 6 months

I have to say, if either of our families are paying for it, I would have it tomorrow if they said so :O)

I only say that b/c we are pretty much paying for EVERYTHING and as much as I don't want to be in debt for the next 50 years, I also don't want to skimp...you know?!

i think after the holidays is perfect because everyone is broke around the holidays LOL

You should do it in like February -

I hate when people get engaged, and have an e-party like 6 months before the wedding! lol

First off, annabellagirl, I ABSOLUTELY love your pix...Rocky is a definite fav! Second, I completely agree....I don't want to burden people right before the wedding...I think it's tacky. I was looking at February...but my FH thinks it might be too soon after the holidays??

I got engage 6/11/10 and my engagement party is 9/25/10 but you have months to do it especially since you just got engaged

I just spoke to one place and told my FH that approximate price of just the food and now he is asking if we even need to have one!

nooo that's fine do it when you can. We paid for our own and got engaged Dec. of '08 and just had ours in August. We did it as a sort of 'kickoff' to the wedding coutdown party

I got engaged on the same day!! 9/4/10!!! We're having ours in Feb after the holidays. I would like to have it in the summer, but my mom doesn't want to wait that long.
