Last night we took our families to a showcase at the MC so they could taste the food and see the place. My mom was looking at all the different centerpieces and noticed that the roses tended to be a little (very little) wilty at the end of the night. I am planning on using all roses and she told me they will probably start to wilt by the time the reception starts. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am using Burton's so I know if this was a problem he would tell me.

Re: Questions about roses...
Maybe that was there particular florist - I have heard excellent things about Burton's. At the GTG - our table centerpiece was all roses - it was done by Jack and Rose - and they stayed fresh and looked wonderful all night.

Your best bet is to ask your florist but I really wouldn't worry about it with roses. Roses are such a popular wedding flower partly because they hold up well.
I've been in many weddings where they used roses and yes, by the very END of the night they are a little wilty but I imagine many types of flowers would be.
I really wouldn't worry about it though.

Re: Questions about roses...
I had all roses in my centerpieces and they did not wilt...even by the end of the reception. Come to think of it, I took the centerpiece that was on my table and left it in my apartment...went on my HM...came home and it still didn't even look that bad... !

I had roses in mine also and they looked great for days and days after! I think it depends on the florist and where they get their flowers from. I was told by one florist that I could not use hydrangea in my centerpieces or bouquets because they would die very quickly and might not make it through the wedding at all. My florist said no problem and they looked beautiful!

Any time I have had roses they have lasted a few days. My friend had roses for our bm's bouquet and they lasted the entire time with no water.

Mine stayed perfect for days after (I was on HM) but my guests commented on them after they had them at home

Re: Questions about roses...
Ask what grade roses they are going to use. Roses range from grade 40 to 70. The higher the grade...the bigger the head of the rose. The smaller ones might wilt faster than the bigger ones.

If you went to the hall in the middle of the week chances are those flowers were sitting their from the weekend. I would have asked the hall where and when they got the roses from. I have been to a few weddings with roses and I have never seen them wilted.

Re: Questions about roses...
The roses in my CPs and bo-ks did not wilt the day of or for a few days afterwards. It all depends on the quality of the roses that the florist will use. I haven't heard anything bad about Burton's. Good luck and Happy Planning

Re: Questions about roses...
Don't worry about using roses, many people do. The C-pieces you saw might not have been made of the freshed flowers they have, since it's only show for a few hours (you'd think they's still use top of the line, since they are selling themselves). I'd think any reputable florist would use top of the line for a wedding knowing it's long term.
