Well if it is a vendor asking you, I would always make the budget seem lower than it is. Did I answer ur question right?

Re: Questions about your wedding......
when we did our budget we figured out what we could spend (aka our max) and what our ideal would be (aka our min). i always gave vendors our ideal number b/c that meant we would get the service for lower than our max or meant we had room to negotiate.
hope that helps!!

I just say, 'It's just going waaay more than we expected, i just don't want to think about it!'
ppl asking that q. don't realize how rude it is! if they continue, a simple 'i don't really feel comfortable talking about it, thank you'

Agreed!
Luckily, no one has asked me how much things are costing... but then again, I don't have any engaged friends right now. I'm sure when others start getting engaged, I will get a lot of questions. If I feel comfortable, I'll help give them a price range for certain vendors, but I am not sure I'd tell them exactly what I paid for everything -- unless it was a close friend who knew the info was to be kept confidential (and even then....)

Re: Questions about your wedding......
whenpeople ask about financial stuff, I just say something like 'Oh my god - it's just crazy how much these things cost!' If they ask again, I say somehting like 'oh, trust me - you don't want to know' all with a smile, of course!
For info I don't care to share - like what my dress looks like - I say 'sorry - can't tell you - it's a surprise'
haven't had anyone push past that....

fh and i just had a disagreement last night. we were trying to keep our list at 150. but our list keeps getting a few more here and there. so we are really going to have to sit down and go over EVERYTHING!

Re: Questions about your wedding......
It really isn't something that they should be asking, frankly it's nobody's business. That would be like asking people how much $$ they make, it's innappropriate.
Kindly explain to them that it's rude to discuss such things and ask for them to respect your/FH's financial situation.

Re: Questions about your wedding......
We decided on a Max dollar amount we were willing to spend first (budget). We worked from that and allocated to all vendors.
In regards to our family, we paid for our wedding ourselves so we did not even leave it to open questions.

just laugh and say enough that it keeps me awake and leave it at that. my family asks and i tell them upfront about things in rounded numbers since fh and i are paying for it alone.

couldn't have said it better. just go the 'drama' route and how 'things are harder than you thought' and they'll leave you alone. worked for me
