quick address question

quick address question

I'm doing the address labels for my STD's and I think this is correct but just want to double check. If I am inviting a married couple and not their children is it ok to address it like this:

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Smith
(insert address here)
(insert address here)

That is correct, right? Or is there a 'more proper' way to address this?

My mom said you are supposed to use AND not & i had a huge argument with her about it - and i was wrong hahaha

So it would be

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith

Re: quick address question

yup

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith if they are married

if they aren't married, but engaged or living together
Mr. Joe Smith
Miss Jane Jones

But as I explained in another post - I didn't do this the right way. I did it like this:

Mr. Joe Smith and Miss Jane Jones.

Re: quick address question

Now what about if it is someone who was married but is now divorced? Miss or Ms or something else?

I think that I read somewhere that it kind of depends on what they go by. Some women still go by Mrs. others switch to Ms.

That's really not helpful though, sorry.

im looking in my book and it says

Mrs. Jones Smith (keep the mrs.)

says maiden name and former husbands surname - so you show both names - thats wierd!!

i know that is proper but i wouldnt do that - idk i think it would be annoying to get an invite with my ex husband's last name on it

I would use Ms. Mary Maiden Name

also for widows you are supposed to use
Mrs. John Smith (Mrs. Husband's full name)

I also didnt do that bc i asked around and a few women said it would be such a shock to see their husband's name like that it would be a little sad

so i did Mrs. Jane Smith ( keeping Mrs. but putting the widow's name

HTH!

PS - I know i went against etiquette blah blah blah
LOL
