Quick question for my PCOS buddies.......

Did any of you read 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' and feel it was worth the read?

If most of it isn't applicable then I'd rather not spend the money on it and buy something that is.

Also, if there is any book you would recommend please let me know.

Thanks ladies

It doesn't really apply to us.

It only works for those who ovulate on some sort of schedule, so if you do, LUCKY YOU and go buy it. If you're like most PCO girls, don't bother with it.

Once you get regulated it may be helpful, but by that point you'll probably be under a doctor's care and won't need a book.

Ovulate on a schedule - in my dreams

Thanks for the info Jenn - you are a wealth of it!!!!

Oh - haven't seen Mr. Mike to get the 411 but I'm sure everyone knows by now.

Jenn's right about one thing - it depends upon your individual condition. As you're aware, PCO effects every woman differently, so IMO, you could look at it as 'knowledge is power' and the more you know about your own body, the better able you will be to work with your doctors in acquiring the best care for your body.

In my case, I purchased the TCOYF book before I conceived Paul....although I never got the chance to crack the darn binding on the book back then! LOL! I have since however, read the thing cover to cover after being diagnosed with PCO.

I found the info to be useful in understanding WHY the balance of FSH and LH hormones effect my ovulation, and since I am taking glucophage, I find the info on monitoring my ovulation and CM useful. I am not at a point where I am actively TTC yet, but I will likely use some of what I learned in the book to help us along.

However, my doctor also told me that while I do have PCO, I am not infertile like some other women are (as a result of their PCO). So maybe that is why I found the info more useful. I (hopefully) will not need fertility treatments and weekly or monthly monitoring in order to conceive again (God willing!) Only time will tell!

I have not read that book, so I am not sure.

I just wanted to let you know of a good web site. It is fertilethoughts.com. There is a section of threads on PCOS, plus sections for all sorts of fertility problems and options. I have found it to be so helpful.
