Quickest way to defrost chicken

What's the quickest method WITHOUT using the microwave?

I feel like the microwave cooks it rather than defosts it!

A whole chicken or just parts?

If you have a gas stove, you should arrange on a cookie sheet or shallow baking pan and place on the stove top - DO NOT PUT STOVE ON!!!

that's completely counterintuitive!!

how long does it take?

it's a pound of thin-sliced chicken cutlets

Wouldn't this be dangerous for bacteria?

Oh geez ... that shouldn't take long at all if they are boneless thin sliced ...

Because of bacteria I've read you are not supposed to leave chicken out to defrost .. the 'best' method is to submerge it in water, and change the water every 30 minutes.

If having chicken ready to go is that urgent .. for safety .. I would just run to the store and get a fresh package.

Defrost your chicken the right way .. and use it when it's ready.

I didn't have to cook! Mr Boots did work for some Italian food store in Brooklyn and brought hom calzones!

and I've been defrosting chicken for years by taking it out of the freezer in the morning and cookin' it up for dinner. I don't think I'm dead!

You can leave chicken in the fridge to defrost, but I don't think it is considered safe to just leave it out on the counter. You can get sick that way.
