I wanted to do something different. No games...maybe like a trivia question.
Like how many lawyers are at this party? I think there are over 30.

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
I've never heard of doing something like this-- would it be a more public things, or something that people do at the tables?
What about like riddles?? Whoever figures it out gets to keep it- and you can have a fun way of figuring it out if it's right.. like, somethign having to do with the bride & groom- or have each answer tied into parts of the evening.. like the answer can be found during cake cutting, or father/daughter dance, etc.
Know what I mean??

My favors (single bottles of wine) are also my place cards. I am decorating them all basically the same, but for a select few I will make one change. The DJ will announce that those with that change, get the centerpieces.

I've seen them do-
the person @ the table with thier birthday closest to your wedding date.
I've seen them do a pass the napkin around to the music and when it stops that person gets the c-piece. ( I 'm not a big fan of that one)

I like this suggestion. I think a question about the bride and groom would be more appropriate.

you could do the typical napkin pass, and when the music stops the person that holds it gets the centerpiece. Or you can hide a penny under the teacup, and whoever gets it gets the centerpiece. Or the couple who's anniversary is closest, or who have been married the longest.

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
The person who has know the bridge and groom the longest.
A numerical question about the B&G -somthing weird that no one would know, so they'd have to guess, otherwise too many people wouild get it right. Like, how many windows are in the B&G's new house, how many days have they been together? How many dresses did the bride try on? Or some maht problem including all of those, like, add the number of brothers the grooms has to the number of dates th B&G went on before they first kissed, multiply that by the number of time they've been to disney world, subtract the number of chapsticks's the bridehas in her purse (something quirly like this..for me, everyone knows I can;t live w/o chapstick). And then as you reveal the asnwer eople can learn about you, it'll be a funny thing....
' We actually went on 3 dates before we kissed!'
'believe it or not! I have 4 chapsticks!'

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
My mom wanted to be in charge of this. So she went to each table and asked a different question and whoever gave the correct answer she gave the centerpiece to. I have no idea what the questions were she asked though. You could assign this to a bridesmaid, a friend, a reader, etc.

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
If your looking for something simple, you can have them put something under one plate on each table and whoever is sitting at that seat gets the centerpiece (as long as you are just doing table assignments and not the actual seat assignment).

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
I was going to give the centerpieces away...
1 to the person who came the fartherest
1 to the person who RSVP'd first
1 to the person who had the 'worst' year and needed an extra 'lift'....
and honestly, I want one!!! b/c we are having a brunch the day after and would like it for the table....
I am just going to make a list of these types of thought of whom to give the flowers to and do it that way.

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
I am asking my hall if they can break apart our center pieces and hand out a few flowers per cp to each lady at the wedding at the end of the night..the florist is going to provide tissue paper, so that Jericho Terrace can wrap the flowers in them.

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
Everybody has been bothering they want a CP. So what i'm doing is putting the persons name on the bottom of the CP for who I want to get it. It may sound unfair but there are certain I want to have it. It's my wedding I can do it anyway I like. If there is one day I am allowed to be a demanding b!tch I think this it!! They are not Flowers so it is something they can have forever.
I think the breaking up the CP and handing out the flowers is a great idea!

I think we'll do it that way too!!!! I didn't think it was a big deal..i figured I'd just give them to people as they leave...but I don't want to get stuck with a bunch either! I only want one! Sometimes, people grab them and other times they leave them there..and you get stuck! I think it's good to have a plan!

Re: Quick...need ways to give out the centerpieces
My mom went to a wedding where the DJ said, 'okay, someone at each table take out a dollar' and then they did the pass the dollar thing and when the music stopped he said 'Okay, whoever took the dollar out first gets the centerpiece'
My mom won it - so she was happy :)

My friend did something very similar. When we sat at our tables there was a card in the middle and in the card she wrote what the person meant to her. It was very special. I got the CP as well as my mother who sat at a different table. We've been friends forever..her card and 'gift' (the CP) made my mom cry..
