Quit smoking

I am only on day 3 and its so hard :(

So mad at myself for ever picking up such a bad habit but I loved it unfortunately. Any other brides out there that quit?

If not & you are a smoker..have one for me! If you dont smoke I am envious!

Re: Quit smoking

i quit by using nicorette gum. it's been 3 1/2 months.

i was supposed to stop chewing it after 12 weeks. during that, cutting down was easy.

since then... well... 1-2 a day isnt bad right :)

just think about how much money you are saving!!

there are so many other things in this world that can kill you, why would yu want to volunteer to put such bad stuff into your body when it will only do you harm? your taking the best step! ESP if you want to have kids

Re: Quit smoking

I quit last July and I feel like my metabolism will never be the same :( I run every day, always eat healthy, and I still managed to gain about 10 pounds since I quit. No bueno!

Stick it out though, my lungs are so grateful! It's great to feel your body slowly respond to you quitting. My skins so much clearer and I don't smell icky all the time!

Re: Quit smoking

Thank God I am not the only one! lol. I am dying over here at work.

I had quit a few years ago for a year using Chantix but the nightmares were terrible so I stopped taking it. I did okay for a year then started my last job in the city which I hated so I would cry & smoke cigs on my lunch break lol. I never quit again.

This time, ive been saying im going to quit, got the Chantix persciption but its $175 for the starter pack!! I 'fortunately' got sick and wasnt smoking anyway so I just kept with it. Sat I had 2, Sun none then I had my last lonely cig in my pack on Monday night. I am beyond sick of candy & gum. And these damn urges that are supposed to last a few mins last way longer.

I keep telling myself I want kids someday & im 27 if I dont stop soon i'm choosing to die lol. I also think I dont want to be a beautiful dress smoking.

Sorry so long but I going nuts. If I knew for sure that the world was going to end soon..Id be at 711 picking up my good old parliaments!

Its like the loss of a best friend. It sounds so terrible but to be honest, I loved smoking and it was always there for me. (I am crazy I know)

Re: Quit smoking

I bribed myself with a car to quit. I told myself if I'm leasing a new car I'm not going to allow myself to ruin it like I did my last one...cigarette burns, smell, etc.

I had a full pack of cigarettes in my new car since I bought it, it helped me psychologically. I felt like if I NEED one, I have them with me, and it was comforting. Normally when I'd 'quit' I'd throw out the pack then just buy a new one the next day. I never touched a single cigarette from that comfort pack and wound up giving it away a few weeks ago.

I just can't stand the idea of my future kids paying for my mistakes and God forbid having to grow up without a mother because I needed that stupid 'comfort.'

PS. I never tried the gum or any of the quit smoking things. I just stopped one day, and I've been good since. I had a few cravings after the first month, tried to inhale from a friend's, and literally choked. I haven't tried since! My throat and lungs are working overtime to heal!

Go with whatever works! :)

I know someone who did the comfort pack too. I think its too tempting for me. Id rip that baby open & smoke 5 in a row lol.

Ever since we got engaged, I feel like its more real that we will have a family within the next few years so that is my main reason.

Cold Turkey is not fun though. I am currently 'smoking' a breadstick..I have officially reached a whole new low. Its a thin one lol. I am not looking forward to days when I am really stressed or am having a few drinks.

Wish I could just sleep til the urges are gone.

Re: Quit smoking

FH is about to quit now (he promised after his thesis was done, since I won't marry him if he's still smoking ) and he's planning on doing e-cig/cold turkeyish. It is really hard, but if you got to the third day that's perfect - doctors have said that the physical addiction is over after day 3, the rest is all mental. you can do it!

My insurance doesnt cover it. If cold turkey doesnt work, I am going to try the Chantix again. Its harder than most people think but I am still sticking with it. Just me & my breadsticks lol

yeah I know. have said that same thing to him before. hoping he realizes the ecig is ridiculous and just goes cold turkey - he's done it before for a few years, then started again during an extremely stressful year

I personally liked the e-cig until the damn thing ran out of cartridges and I bought a pack lol. E-cig lasted a few days for me lol

Re: Quit smoking

Good for you! I'm still a smoker, but I don't smoke nearly as much as I used to. I only had 2 today. I know it's terrible, but I haven't seriously tried quitting before. I like it too much. I really want to quit by the time my wedding comes around though.

What are you doing to prevent cravings right now? I personally don't care for the e cig. I work in the city and think it's embarrassing. Should I do it inside? OUtside? I don't know! It's not tricking my body, I still want one after.

That's like me. I still NEED to have my first cig of the day around 10-10:30. I look forward to leaving my desk and having it.
It's so much better than smoking on the way to work, taking multiple breaks, having more than one on lunch. I also don't smoke one after dinner anymore!
