Original post by Jack84

I am only on day 3 and its so hard :(

So mad at myself for ever picking up such a bad habit but I loved it unfortunately. Any other brides out there that quit?

If not & you are a smoker..have one for me! If you dont smoke I am envious!

Good for you! I'm still a smoker, but I don't smoke nearly as much as I used to. I only had 2 today. I know it's terrible, but I haven't seriously tried quitting before. I like it too much. I really want to quit by the time my wedding comes around though.

What are you doing to prevent cravings right now? I personally don't care for the e cig. I work in the city and think it's embarrassing. Should I do it inside? OUtside? I don't know! It's not tricking my body, I still want one after.

yea ive noticed that the e cigg smokers smoke more and it is kind of annoying lol

I want to quit but I don't know where to begin

You don't want to walk out of your Reception is your beautiful WHITE dress to smoke, do you???

Think of that and stop...

You are so right!

Re: Quit smoking

I quit last July by used an e-cig in the beginning and a 'quit buddy' at work. Having the social support was really helpful and I found the e-cig was helpful when I was just craving the feeling of having it in my hand while I was driving. By September I started to limit my use of the e-cig and was completely nicotine free by October.

My best piece of advice if you are going the e-cig route is to have a schedule for limiting your use of that once you are over the real cigarettes.

Good luck! If I can do it, so can you.

Re: Quit smoking

Thanks ladies!! I am on day 4 (to me its 5 bc I didnt have any on Sunday & just one on Monday) and I am doing ok. Each day seems to get a little bit easier. I swear if I wasnt sick as a dog last week to not smoke for a few days, I would have started again. I could never get past the first couple of days bc the cravings were so bad.

For me, candy, deep breaths, distracting myself and drinking cold water have helped. I just keep telling myself if I can do 3 days, I can do 4 and so on. One day at a time.

Dont get me wrong, I loved smoking but I have to at least try my best to quit. Ive smoked since I was 14 & im honestly afraid I will never quit and end up with cancer. I almost wish I started later in life so I could have more time to smoke. Crazy right??

Ill keep you ladies posted on how I am doing. Weekend is going to be rough!!!!

Re: Quit smoking

PS another incentive..I calculated how much I spend in a year smoking & decided next year I will buy myself a pair of Louboutins and a new Ipad. Hopefully that will help!

Re: Quit smoking

OH! I forgot another one of my tricks...they're all coming back as I read these posts!

I ALWAYS kept a water bottle in my car...I had idle hand issues so I would literally drink bottles of water a day because it kept me occupied while I was driving.

If I had just finished a drink before getting into my car I wouldn't throw it out, I'd keep it and chew the ice while I was driving.

It sounds silly now but it really took my mind off of it!
