quite a dilemma.....

quite a dilemma.....

So,heres the situation. I grew up often playing with my cousins and their neighbors (3 kids that were neighbors) over time we nev er kpt in touch. Our parents stayed the best of friends. When i was little my dad bought ahome for my brother sister nd i for whn we graduated college (as an incentive) so we all moved out, which is great. Now heres the dilemma..... I go to the bagel store by my new house 3 times a week, the owner is one of my mothers best friends oldest son (one of the ones i used to hang out with). He was engaged about ayear ago and broke it off, and has had a crush on me for a while. By the way we sent a save the date to his parents. Over the past few months he has been asking more and more about my wedding plans and how its going, and i dont want to be rude so i tell him. so last week, i went to get my usual bagel, and he asked me about my plans. Then he told me he is happy that this year he doesnt have to worry about plans for this 4th of july. It was completely out of theblue. So i asked him why, and he goes becuz i have ur wedding to go to. what?! i was so confused. So i was like o ok.

i know its just one person, but my numbers r so high! and plus hes not even on my C list! hes on like my F list!!!! so now how do i nicely bring it back up without hurting his feelings to tell him he wont be invited? ugh what a situation

This is something I will never understand. How can people assume they will be invited to a wedding? Especially if there hasn't been a relationship in years. Is there some way you can bring it up that you guys have so many people invited you can't possibly invite everyone you know?

In a way I'm thinking just send the invitation to the parents when the time comes but on the other hand you see him a few times a week and you might feel awkward.

I think the best thing to do if it comes up again is to mention that you can't invite him because you've gone way over your limit on invites.

I know, people are really crazy like that! I really don’t understand it… sooo many people I work with are all assuming they’re invited and I’m like, “I’ve never hung out with you outside of work, why all of a sudden are you so sure you’re invited to the wedding?!”

I agree though, I just keep mentioning how the room can only hold like 200 people and we're already way over that.

oh that is wierd - I hate that too! why do people put you in that position? and I bet he doesn't even give you free bagels. .

I told people it was 'almost all family'.... which is pretty much a lie...

but, i figure its better than 'id rather shoot myself than pay a rediculous amount of money to feed you.'

definitely not worth the free bagels

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

It really is a sticky situation. You could also have your parents explain it to his parents. ha ha! So this way its the same story but from both angles?
I'm sure I will be running into this situation myself.

I would just tell him that you have a set number of people to invite and that you would have loved for him to come but seriously had to cut people.

this happened to me last week a coworker flat out said am I invited (which he is def not I see him once every two weeks ) so I said no unfortunatley we are not inviting any coworkers its just family and if we have availability then maybe we can add some friends and then I laughed it off he got the picture as well as anyother coworkers who may have thought they were invited.

oh man, Im sorry... that is a horrible situation. I have had poeple invite themselves to our wedding already too.. Im always like yeah we are having a really small wedding since we are paying for it so its going to be really only friends and very few freinds... and they usually dont mention the wedding to me anymore! lol

Just because he gives you free bagels doesnt mean he should assume hes invited to your wedding!!
