Quote for wedding program?

I love when people use quotes in their wedding program...somewhere in the back on the last page or something. Is anyone doing this? Any ideas of nice quotes?

thanks!!

I think its a cute idea!

My quote has always been ' Life is not a party we hope for but since we are here we might as well dance' -- not very weddingy though... huh?

Don't know any romantic ones... sorry.

Re: Quote for wedding program?

I am a quote freak! Mine are not the most conventional love quotes - FH and I like things that are less traditional and sort of witty. Here are a few I have collected (Try doing a google search for love quotes, you will come up with a ton of websites)

Franklin P. Jones
'Love doesn't make the world go 'round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.'

Dinah Shore
'Trouble is part of your life — if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you a chance to love you enough.'

K Knight
'True love never lives happily ever after - true love has no ending.'

Unknown love quote
'The secret of love is seeking variety in your life together, and never letting routine chords dull the melody of your romance.'

Rainer Maria Rilke
'For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of our tasks; the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.'

'To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the wedding cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it;
Whenever you're right, shut up.'
Ogden Nash

MY 2 FAVORITES: 'A good marriage is that in which each appoints the other guardian of his solitude.' - Rainer Maria Rilke

Alexander Smith
'Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition.'

Re: Quote for wedding program?

We used a poem instead of a quote.

'On Marriage' by Kahlil Gibran

Let there be spaces in your togetherness
And let the winds of Heaven dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love. Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone. Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, and theoak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Good luck,
Donna

Re: Quote for wedding program?

I think i'm going to use this for my ceremony program

You are my husband,
You are my wife,
My feet shall run because of you…
My heart shall beat because of you…
And I shall love because of you.

-Eskimo Love Song

and for the first part of my invitation

“YOU ARE SIMPLY MY BEST TIME. YOU ARE MY SWEETEST LAUGHTER.
ALWAYS YOU WILL HAVE MY HAND TO HOLD. ALWAYS.'

I used -

You dont marry the person you can live with
You marry the person you can live without.

I really loved that one

And the other one I used was:

As I stand here today with the world as my witness,
I pledge to you my undying and everlasting love.
I will stand beside you as your partner,
I will stand before you as your protector,
And I will stand behind you as your solace.
Please spend and end your life with me.

We used

Some have been with us from the start of our lives...Some only we we've met
But to be with us on the day we become one
Is the most joyous of yet

Re: Quote for wedding program?

I will be the answer at the end of the line,
I will be there for you when you take your time,
At the burning of uncertainty, I will be your solid groud,
i will hold the balance when you can't look down.

This is from a Sarah McLachlin song called 'Answer'. Very pretgty

Here is what we are using.

FOUNDATIONS OF MARRIAGE
by Regina Hill

Love, trust, and forgiveness are the foundations of marriage. In marriage, many days will bring happiness, while other days may be sad. But together, two hearts can overcome everything...In marriage, all of the moments won't be exciting or romantic, and sometimes worries and anxiety will be overwhelming. But together, two hearts that accept will find comfort together. Recollections of past joys, pains, and shared feelings will be the glue that holds everything together during even the worst and most insecure moments. Reaching out to each other as a friend, and becoming the confidant and companion that the other one needs, is the true magic and beauty of any two people together. It's inspiring in each other a dream or a feeling, and having faith in each other and not giving up... even when all the odds say to quit. It's allowing each other to be vulnerable, to be himself or herself, even when the opinions or thoughts aren't in total agreement or exactly what you'd like them to be. It's getting involved and showing interest in each other, really listening and being available, the way any best friend should be. Exactly three things need to be remembered in a marriage if it is to be a mutual bond of sharing, caring, and loving throughout life: love, trust, and forgiveness.

I was reading and searching and couldn't find 'the one' so I made one up. We used it on the top of our invitations:
I thought I understood what love was, then I met you and I knew

Re: Quote for wedding program?

I know this is REALLY bad, but there's a quote from the movie Pooh's Grand Adventure that my daughter and I heard and I want to put it somewhere on my program . . . .

'You're just in time for the best part of the day . . . . the part when You and Me become We.'

I think I'm using, from Les Mis,

'To Love Another Person is to See the Face of God'

Not only do I love that quote, but it's perfect for a church ceremony...

I LOVE THIS ONE:

Love is patient, Love is kind, It does not envy, It does not boast, It is not proud. It is not Rude, It is not self- seeking, It is not easily angered, It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but, rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always Trusts, always Hopes, always perseveres
Love Never Fails.
