Quotes for Hawaii

HI Ladies! Has anyone receive recent quotes for a honeymoon in Hawaii. I am planning to go to Kauai & Maui and right now I am really wish I would have booked months ago because it seems like prices have gone up a lot. Does anyone feel this way as well? I am just wondering what kind of prices people are getting. I am thinking of 4 nights in in a 4 star hotel in Maui with breakfast and an ocean front room and 5 nights in a 5 star hotel in Kauai with a partial oceanview and breakfast. Also, we are getting rentals on both islands, travel insurance, and all flights and it's coming close to 7k. It seems like way too much to me but I think it has to do with cost of flights going up so much. Thoughts?

Re: Quotes for Hawaii

This is what a travel agent sent me, a little long, but it might help you and others who are thinking about Hawaii:
Dear Erika,

I have given you some prices below for Hawaii . Please keep in mind that the
rates are subject to change because it is a little early. This should give
you a good indication of the cost. April 9 – 18, 2009, 9 nights , Hawaii

April 9 – 15, 2009 , 6 nights in Maui

Royal Lahaina

cottage garden view - $ 865 x 2

terrace view - $ 940 x 2

April 15 – 18, 3 nights Big Island of Hawaii

Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa

garden view - $ 626 x 2

pool view - $ 656 x 2

Hapuna Beach Prince

terrace view - $ 625 x 2

partial ocean view - $ 775 x 2

Fairmont Orchid

garden view- $ 846 x 2

partial ocean view - $ 1000 x 2

The above prices include room, taxes, lei greeting, and intermediate car.

It is too early to price airfare, but for March the air was approximately $ 841.00 per person. You will
probably have one inter-island flight which will cost between $ 70.00 – $ 125.00 per person based upon availability.

So, if we use the Royal Lahaina in Maui for 6 nights and the Hapuna Beach Prince (or the Waikoloa Beach Marriott)
on the Big Island , then the price would be approximately the following:

Airfare - $1682.00 for 2

Hotels, taxes, car, lei greeting - $ 2980.00 for 2

One Inter-Island flight - $ 200.00 for 2 ( midrange based upon above prices)

Total - $4862.00 for 2

Above prices were based upon 2008 prices for same time of year with an increase built in
for 2009 rates. All of the above is subject to availability. Prices may go down or up based upon
proposed 2009 rates, but this should give you a good idea of cost.

Re: Quotes for Hawaii

I am not going to Hawaii but I did get quotes for it. For 10 days, I think it's about right.
We were quoted around $6500 for 7 nights. This was about 2 months ago.

Re: Quotes for Hawaii

That sounds about right. My travel agent quoted us $8300 (airfare, inter-island flights, breakfast every day, staying at the Hyatt at 3 islands, car rental at two islands) and then was able to bring it down to $7300 by changing the type of room we would be staying in-oceanfront to mountainview, etc. I got a great tip from Cindyrella (very helpful bride on here!!!!! ) about the website airhawaii.com-they book the inter-island flights for about $49 which is less than what you were quoted. Good luck

It's about right. We did 8 nights 9 days in Kauai and Maui and flights, hotel and car rental were about $6100. This was last September!

Re: Quotes for Hawaii

We're doing a 10 day trip to Hawaii - 2 nights Oahu, 3 nights the Big Island, and 4 nights Maui. With the hotels, which include breakfast (the Outrigger and Marriotts, mountainview rooms), car rental, all the flights, insurance, it's about $5200. But we're going in November which is more of their off season. Also, FH's cousin works for Amex and does something with the travel dept, and she set this up for us.

By getting mountainview rooms, you actually save a good amount of money. Also, flying during the week/in the morning is usually cheaper than flying on a weekend. There are tons of little tips out there to save you money.

Also, I bought the Frommer's Hawaii book, and it's so helpful and has tips and prices on things for Hawaii. I recommend picking it up to help with planning.

Re: Quotes for Hawaii

I have been to hawaii 2 times. I would suggest looking into privately owned condos, because they are usually cheaper and bigger.

I will have to look up some links and get back to you.

When we went we stayed in a condo that was privately owned for 7 nights at 95$ a night and it was 600 sq feet with full bath, kitchen and pool on site.

Airfare will be more due to fuel surcharges though. Continental flies direct from newark, NJ.
