My FH's cousin just called my cell phone to tell my parents that him and his wife will not be making it to the wedding...b/c they have a conflict?!? THREE DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING AND I JUST PAID FOR YOU TO COME EAT!!!!!!
This only happens to me!!!!!!
just found out that the 'conflict' is apparently they forgot that they have to be in florida this weekend!...um...how do you forget your going to florida? People are ridiculous!

Did they leave a message or did you talk to them? What did you say? Did you give a lower # to your hall? That is SO rude! I'm telling my hall about 10 less people... you can always add, not take away!

Sorry, but it's what happens with weddings...we even had people who weren't sure if they were coming at all...they work for an airline and were flying stand by....we didn't count them for our final count, but we made sure their table would accomodate it.
The worst thing to do is tell your hall a large number less though because you make the hall look bad when they have to scrounge up chairs and/or a table! They didn't goof up, you and your guests did, but all your guests will see is 'gee, they can't get tables right here...'
On that note, obviously on my own admission we told them 2 less....but we seriously didn't know if the couple was coming. The night before we had 2 additions as well...but we squared those away prior to the ceremony...At most, I'd leave off 2-3 people...but anything more might make your wedding cumbersome for the hall and annoy your guests just a tad as well...10 people will notice that they all had to wait for a chair and place setting.

It happens to everyone- one of DH's friends called him the night before the wedding to tell him he and his wife couldn't make it - he thought the wedding was on Saturday - and he had other plans for Sunday (they day of the wedding). He found out on friday he had the wrong day but waited until the next day (the night before to tell us). One of my brother's friends didn't even show up. We think he overslept. My cousin called a couple of days before and said she and her daughter couldn't come because they were moving that weekend. Whatever. Believe me on the day of, you won't even notice! And its their loss.

To make you feel better.......
Not that my wedding is as close as yours, but here's a story to make you feel less like this stuff only happens to you.. I mean annoying bad stuff....
I go to get a cap on my tooth four weeks ago. The dentist is like it's no big deal.... blah , blah....
so he puts a temp on, a week later, it's killing me, I go back... he puts me on antibiotics, then a am told I need an x ray.. I go to the oral surgeon who then tells me that it needs to be pulled... I go what!!!!! my wedding is in four weeks!!! so I am getting it pulled this Thursday.. and they are going to TRY to make a temp for the whole in my smile.... OK... so I am freaking out.....

yeah as long as you met the guarentee they won't over charge you, but if your under then they charge you for the full amt!

I'm sorry-don't feel bad my friend had 16 people cancel on her 2-3 days before the wedding. Some people are just horribly rude. If there was some emergency and I really had to cancel going to a wedding-I would send a nice FAT check in the mail. Hopefully they will do this!

An ENTIRE TABLE of my DH family cancelled on us 4 days before the wedding - 10 people!!!! We felt like idiots b/c we had to call everyone that we couldn't invite b/c of space limitations and practically beg them to come to the wedding. And on the wedding day, 4 of his family members did not show.
It's their loss and it made me realize that I want NOTHING to do with most of his family. Rude awakening!
