random thought given all the bridal shop problems today

It makes me so sad and so angry to hear about the problems so many people have been having with their bridal salons. I had a very bad experience with a salon as a MOH a few years ago and vowed that I'd never give that store my business. Without actually planning it this way, I took it even further.

So far, no items for my wedding have been purchased at typical bridal shops! You can do it, too!

Here's how: I bought my dress and veil directly from the designer at a sample sale and they'll do the alterations, too. BM dresses are from Aria, so everything is done online and through the mail. And, my mother got her MOB dress at Lord & Taylor! BM and MOB alterations will be done through independent seamstresses.

All I need is for FMIL to find her dress at somewhere other than a typical bridal shop and I'll feel like I won an Olympic medal in bridal shop avoidance!!!

I got my Bride's maid dresses at Lord and Taylor for under $100 and they are soooo pretty.

Re: random thought given all the bridal shop problems today

Both my mother and FMIL bought their dresses at non-bridal stores. I originally wanted to go that route with my bridesmaids (only have two), but we couldn't find anything suitable this season. Too many wild prints and bright colors that wouldn't suit either of them.

When I started looking for my dress, I didn't have much time, so I stuck with a bridal shop. But the samples can be good for anyone who has time to look and can wear the sizes.
