Random vent/question about Thank You cards.

Random vent/question about Thank You cards.

So, we're getting our TY's from the photographer. I kind of want the style where the pic is on the front of the card -- and the inside is blank so that I can write a message myself in each card.

I just HATE the preprinted thank you -- it's impersonal.

I feel like if you are taking the time to come to our wedding (some traveling from far away) the least I could do is write a nice personal message to everyone in their thank you card.

How do you girls feel about it?

I agree. I want the kind where I can write something. Not sure which ones ours comes with.

those are the type of thank you cards we're doing. i think it's much nicer to look at, (no wallet sized photo falling out) it's way more personal, and if the person wants a pic of you, they still have it.

Okay -- I thought I was alone there for a second.

Really, the only people interested in my wedding pics are my very immediate family.

Everyone else will throw out those wallet sized photos -- I feel like they're a waste of money.

Or, like my mom, keep them on the fridge for 6 months and then throw them out!

i opted not 2 get the thank you cards from the photographer because i think it is corny, so he is giving me xtra enlargments instead.

i am going to make my thankyou on a website like shutterfly.

I agree - I am getting the blank ones, I think they are way nicer!

I'm kind of dreading my wedding thank you cards b/c I like to write a personal message to each person and it is going to take me a long time (only reason I am dreading it). I agree with you, they took the time to come to your wedding and shell out gifts and money, so I feel that a personal message is your way of showing your appreciation.

For our e-party, in EVERY thank you card, I thanked them for their SPECIFIC gift and for coming. Our family was OVERLY generous and I wanted them to know it was appreciated.

I'm dreading it too. But, it will be much appreciated. There is nothing nicer than getting a thank you card, that was clearly not generic, and written with thought and feelings.

If i was writing a movie I'd cast you as the hooker with a heart of gold.

Pre-printed thank you cards??? I'm assuming they say 'thank you for your generous gift. love, bride & groom' already inside?

I don't mean to offend anyone but that is so freakin tacky!!!! Everyone deserves a handwritten thank you card IMO...

We opted not to get the photo cards from our photographer because I didn't like the way they looked. We got extra pictures in our album instead.

We might have some made down the road if we change our mind, but we will decide that when the time comes. We might order TYs that match our invites instead. Either way, I feel very strongly about thank yous being personalized.

Yeah, I agree! I wrote ALL of our e-party thank yous (since we only got gifts from my side of the family/my friends) and wrote a personal non-generic thing in each -- and I sent them out same-day until we ran out of thank yous. People actually called my parents and commented on how nice it was to receive thoughtful and prompt thank yous.

I want FH to split the task with me for wedding thank yous but I'm afraid I'll have to write him out a few generic fill in the blanks to use for inspiration... plus his handwriitng is kind of bad... .

I have to say though, I've gotten plenty of the TYs with the preprinted words, but the bride has almost always written something personal as well...
and...I guess I'm in the minority, but I ALWAYS keep the photo! I have a whole scrapbook of just all the weddings we've been to...and I hate when there's no picture!
but, as for what we're doing, it's a part of our photographer's package to design the thank you, for us to get ourselves off of shutterfly or kodak...

I'm planning on writing all the wedding thank you's myself. I know FH won't be as into it as me.

Here's an example of what he'd write:

Dear _________,

Thanks!

Love,
Chris

I cannot write FOR $HIT, I have really bad handwriting. I will be printing my TU's, my guests will understand

Our eparty was March 11th and I had my thank-you's out before the end of the month. It isone of my pet peeves. The last thank-you I received was from my mom's best friends daughter and I thought she wrote a nice, personal message in mine... then I saw my moms, my aunts and my grandma's and we all had the same thing written in ours... WORD FOR WORD!!! I was like, um, wow. But, to each their own!!!
