rant about bed bath and beyond

Did you know that they don't stock any china in their stores? I got a bunch of gift cards and went in to get a few of my platters. Well, they didn't have anything in the store so they had to order it, which isn't too big of a deal BUT they had the nerve to charge me shipping. I complained but they said it was company policy.

Could you imagine if one of your guests took the time to go there to get you a present only to find out that it had to be ordered and they had to pay to have it shipped??? Needless to say, I am pulling my china from my registry there and moving it back to fortunoff's.

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I had heard some registering 'horror' stories about them. So sorry you had to go through that.

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

So funny you should post about this today....I just had this conversation with my cousin today....I said i wouldn't register there. the past few showers i went to i went to BBB for the gift & it was a nightmare-they were out of stock for every item and it seemed like such a debockle (SP?!?!) lol

Does anyone have any other suggestions for registry besides Fortunoffs which is always the default!! LOL

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I totally agree. If they dont have it in stock, then THEY should charge for shipping.
The same thing for my future sister in law. They wanted stuff from their registry as Xmas gifts. Her china pattern is very new, so they had to order it, and charge ME shipping. This was at Bloomingdales.

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I registered at BBB & would not register for good china there to begin with. You are better off at Fortunoff for these items. This is what I did.

Good Luck

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I recently wanted to get a gift for someone off of their registry at Macys that wasn't in stock and they said I would have to pay to ship it so I decided to buy something else. I ended up getting a table cloth for $25 in the store and on the internet it was only $16.

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I had half of my china at BBB and the other half at fortunoffs. The reason I wanted to have some at BBB was that they always send 20% off coupons and their prices are pretty much the same as fortunoffs. I ended up saving about $100 today using the coupons even though I had to pay $25 for shipping. After they put the china order in the computer I had to go to the register to pay and I conveniently 'forgot' to give the cashier the coupons so at least I still have them!!!

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

wow! I didn't know that. I registered there, maybe I should pull my registry. I am also registered at Macy's, William & Sonoma, and Tiffany's(yeah, my family made me do that). Shipping charges..that is so uncustomer friendly..we should write letters to the main office, maybe someone will get the hint!

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I registered at Macy's and Crate and Barrel. No problems so far. The only thing I dont' like is that with Macy's is there isn't much inventory to add from the weddingchannel.com. Makes it a pain.

The shipping charge is all about more money in there pockets and just a marketing tactic that everyone uses. There is no way to get around it unless you have a very understanding sales associate, which most are not.

I would not suggest backing out of your registry because of one person's experience. I know someone got doubles from her Fortunoff's registry and had to go and return all these items. I would rather get doubles of what I want then to get something that I hate and can't do anything with.

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I could be wrong on this, but I remember hearing that Bed Bath & Beyond carries china at one of their stores - in New Jersey. You may have to schlep to get it, but I guess you could make a day out of it and hit some of the shopping malls!

Re: rant about bed bath and beyond

I registered at BBB but have my china at FOrtunoff. If you need something off a registry at BBB (besides china I guess) they should have it shipped to that store from another one for you at no charge. I did this for my SILs shower. I waited a few days but no charge.
