Rant: My bank stole our money

Ok so I sorry for the rant but I am furious.

So my FH is a bonds broker and as is standard in that industry they have biannual bonus' and reviews. So FH receives his bonus and deposits it into the bank on Wednesday of last week. It clears on Thursday morning and we do all the appropriate transfers into the wedding account and what not. Then on Sat. morning his account goes negative. They put a hold on his bonus!! They didn't call us to tell us or anything. So we call on Monday to find out what the problem is and they tell us they think it is counterfit! Now FH works for Canter Fitzgerald not a small unknown firm. So fine we try to straighten it out but to no availe. Then when we get home from work on Monday we see our savings account is down to only a few hundred dollars. Upon further investigation the bank has removed his bonus twice. Once because they were investigating the check and again, just because.

I called for three days and came accross four incompetant people and one major B*tch. I was told to 'shut up or I will hang up on you' to which she did. 'You can not talk to my manager you can deal with me or no one'. and a list of other inappropriate things. Now this may not be a lot of money to them but it is the total amount for our wedding and I happen to find that significant.

So today we have all of our money back, including the non-counterfit check. No appoligies or restitution. My bank just tried to steal my money and not even admit it.

OMG!! Sorry you had to go through this aggravation, I think I would be looking for another bank and when you close your account at this bank make it clear to them that it's their fault your closing your acct.

We are! I have had problems with this bank ever since they took over Fleet. I loved fleet but Bank of America is CRAP!!

That's horrible!

I'd go into a branch and speak with someone in person, you might have better luck dealing with someone face to face as opposed to on the phone.

ETA: I just saw that it was BOA. Definitely get a new bank. Also, is there a way that Cantor Fitz could direct deposit the bonus into your accounts? My company does all of my reimbursements/bonuses/paychecks through direct deposit.

I would go down to the bank personally and file a formal complaint. Who ever you spoke to on the phone was rude and unprofessional. The bank should be aware of her conduct.

I am working from home tomorrow and will be in there. I wish I could get into their corp headquarters and see 'Sandra' face to face.

If you are chosing a bank stay away from BOA, they are not into customer service!

OMG Bank of America is horrible. I have had nothing but problems with them as well. They removed my FEDERALY refund from my account while I was trying to make a down payment on my honeymoon! It was so embarrassing! Then they didn't even apologize!

It is unbelievable. I have been with Fleet since 92 but ever since BOA take over last year it has been nothing but problems.

when dealiong with issues like this, i always tape recored the converasations...i have a little recorder that hooks up to the phone jack....hahah...then complain about the beotch and tell them yuo have ti al on tape.

I switched from BOA about three months after they took over Fleet because the customer service went completely downhill...I literally had problems with my direct deposited paychecks missing!!! There was one month when I went to an ATM 3 days after Pay day only to find out that my money was missing...It took 45 minutes on the phone for them to correct it...Ridiculous.

I wouldn't say it's Bank of America - Chase did the SAME THING to me with one of my bonus checks - they took it out TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like, OK, once I can understand, take out the $$ yuodon't think I should have, but TWICE????? Now you're taking MY money!! They were at least really apologetic about it and nice and told me they would NOT allow ANY checks to bounce until they straightened it out. The bank manager called me every day to tell me what checks presented.

OMG!!! I work for a bank and we have had a slew of conterfeit checks lately. Most have been caught before they were deposited and most were also innocent victims of fraud.
But to just remove the money like that is crazy! I thinks its also illegal. I'm glad you got your money back though!

OMG that is horrible....recently my bank gave someone else 5k out of my account cash!!!! they said OOPS we pressed the wrong acct number !!!!!!!!!!!
