Rant: So listen to this. . .

One of my guests, a good friend of mine (who I have been unintentionally neglecting as of late), was invited to a going away party the same day as my wedding. She (thankfully) chose the wedding over the party, only to have this girl flip a sh*t on her about it. The reason why this girl doesn't like me and flipped a sh*t on my friend? I had 'relations' with her boyfriend THREE YEARS BEFORE THEY STARTED DATING. Oh, and unfortunately, her boyfriend was killed two or three years ago in a tragic car accident.

So she tried to sabotage my friend's ability to attend my wedding because of something that happened well before she knew this guy. I never did anything to hurt her while she was in this relationship, yet our mutual friend is caught in the middle because of her. If this friend would have said, 'I'm sorry, but I committed to a party on 7/11,' I would have been upset, but not to the extent of over-reacting ranting and raving that this girl is doing to my friend. It just hurts to see this friend go through this, but I'm glad that this friend spoke up and said, 'Listen, I'm going to Meg's wedding, and if there's time, I'll stop by.' This he wa has to deal with it!!!!

Oh, oh, oh. And the best part? This girl is turning a going away party into a friggin BRIDAL SHOWER for herself. She REGISTERED and she included not one, but TWO cards with the invite: 'give me your favorite recipe' and 'share your favorite memory of me.' She is going away to GRAD SCHOOL in Arizona--not moving to another country or getting married.

All I can say is Wow!

Wow....that really and truly is a horrible situation. Not giving her a free pass for what she's doing at all, but I'm assuming that this girl was with her BF at the time of his passing....and I can only imagine with horror how much that would totally eff someone up in the head.

The whole registering thing you said at the end really bothered me. She's probably dying inside that she's not getting married herself because her bf is dead, and trying to live vicariously through it. It's really kind of sad...when you get past the disturbing part of it.

Like I said, not making excuses for her behavior AT ALL. It's a horrible situation she's putting you in, and more importantly, your friend, who she's almost making choose. Just kind of struck me because I felt that she must be in such pain as well.

She isn't getting married yet is throwing herself a bridal shower??? What an oddball!!! So strange!!

I can relate to the 'crazy girl', my boyfriend of 3 years died in a car accident too and I'm sure I p*ssed off lots of people with my antics around that time.

This girl sounds like a whack job!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who registers themselves for going away to grad school?!!?! She obviously floats her own boat On a brighter note YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED IN 2 DAYS WOMAN!!!!!! And your friend did the right thing and is coming to your wedding! I honestly can't believe that some people would even consider taking another invitation after they have committed to A WEDDING. That is just ludicrous in my eyes. But she is coming so yay!!!!!!

I do feel really, really bad about her losing him three years ago to that accident. I can't imagine the pain. But to 1. hold a grudge against somebody for no apparent reason and 2. to make a mutual friend feel bad and tell her that 'other people agree with me--you shouldn't be going to that wedding because I'm a better friend to you' without backing it up. . .really immature for a 29 year old.

I betcha she planned this party after our friend told her the date of my wedding.

I checked out the registries and sure enough, they're wedding-type registry items. She expects people to bring these gifts to a going away party.

I don't know why I'm letting this bother me so much. . .but it just annoys me that she can't get over all of this and is making one of my soon-to-be guests feel caught.

not to be crass or insensitive...mental illness is not a laughing matter.....but........i can't help but think that her party is going to be a bunch of cut outs that she's going to hold conversations with!!!
