Hi. I am looking at a reception at The Metropolitan in Glen Cove; does anyone have any feedback for me as either a guest or bride at this site?
Thank you.

Re: Rants/Raves for The Metropolitan in Glen Cove?
I was a guest at a wedding there quite awhile back and I loved the place. I thought it was great for a wedding that is not huge, loved the 2 different floors and I remember the food being great!

One of my BM's went to a wedding there about 3 weeks ago and loved it...She didn't care for the fact that there were 2 floors but overall raved about everything

My cousin got married there in 98 and the only thing I remember honestly was the smoke alarms going off twice during her ceremony. The second time they went off it was during the does anyone have an objections part and the fire department came

That was my second choice for a while b/c it's a great place for a ceremony as well.
However, once we went to a tasting, we were turned off. I suggest going if you are serious -it's free (no obligation) and gives you a good idea. They have them regularly.
The cocktail food was good but the portions were mini. We actually asked the server if they were just sample size and she said nope, that's how big they are for the weddings. Honestly, the servings were toothpick sized.
The food was overall okay...though some selections were above average. We actually asked the girl, who has been there for years, for an honest opinion and she said well it's a lot better than other places. Which was a strange endorsement. Also, we have an elderly person who cannot get up to the balcony for cocktail. With no elevator, that wasn't a plus.
A very pretty place, but we finally went with our place for about the same price and we are confident in the excellent service, great food with great portions, great view it provides.
It was a tough choice because those high ceilings were so gorgeous and the staff are nice enough.
Just make sure you go for a tasting and see how they do things there. If food is #1 for you, I think it's not the best place. If all else makes it for you, then it's a solid choice for sure.
Good luck either way!

Thanks so much for the feedback. My wedding is going to be small - probably around 65 attendees so its been very hard to find a site that will accept such a small guest count. I don't anticipate using the balcony unless we get married onsite. Thanks again for the feedback.

If you are going to have only 65 people, verify with them that they will be giving you the room with the high ceilings that you see in the ads. We were looking for a 100 minimum, and they told us that would be in the room downstairs - which is nice, but totally different than the upstairs room. They were willing to go for a 100 minimum upstairs for a day wedding, and came down to a 125 minimum for a Saturday night (from 150).
