Re: Raphael Brides?!

Hi there!

I am new to LIW and I just booked Raphael for June 2005. I am so excited. Besides being a strikingly beautiful place, the food is amazing, and the view of the vineyard is breathtaking!

I agree with an earlier poster...let's start a Raphael thread, there seems to be enough of us!

They gave me a list of preferred vendors and strongly suggested I use them. Has anyone deviated from the list and had a problem?

I didn't use any of their vendors, i found my own, only b/c I was doing research and just stumbled onto other stuff. Good Luck and and you have a while to plan!

Hi Girls:

I got married at Raphael in February, so if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer. I didn't use any of their vendors, and had no problems. In fact, Julie was very impressed with my DJ - Music by Michael and mentioned that she would definitely recommend him.

thanks usuk!

I might take you up on that. we are in the beginning phases, but i think i will have questions....

Still debating: Sit down dinner w/wine pairing or a 6 hour cocktail party/buffet. They both sound so great!

Which did you do?

leeleelee- i want a full report after your wedding!

We're getting married at Raphael too! 5/22/05
Do you save a significant amount by doing the 6 hr cocktail party? Any ideas on hotels for out of town guests.. Thanks for the help!!

Re: Raphael Brides?!

CONGRATS ALEXANDREW! and welcome to the small world of Raphael brides. Hotels for OOT guests is one of my biggest coincerns as well! Julie said she would work with me on that when the time comes. You can bus people up from about 10 exits down where there are alot of chain hotels...or there are B and B's (where alot of my fam will stay...but can't ask starving artist friends to pay 200 per night!) They are supposedly building a hotel in Greenport to be ready by next year. Anyone know what it is?

Everytime I think about getting married in that vineyard I get chills down my spine. It speaks to me, dammit! I mean, come on! Look at these chairs!

Re: Raphael Brides?!

I AM GETTING MARRIED AT RAPHAEL IN 40 DAYS.......Can hardly wait, but I guess I will have to. We are using the florist who does all the work for Julie on a regular basis. Other than that, I got my own vendors. We are having the buffet, just because we want it to be more like a party than a formal reception. We've both done the formal wedding thing before. I am so excited because I think the end of August the vines will just be bursting with grapes, it should be beautiful.....
I have info. on the Greenport hotel, it is veeeery pricey. A lot of my guests are staying at the Santorini -- it is probably the closest motel, right on the water and it has a pool. Others are staying at various local B&Bs. My mom is renting a house in Aquebogue for the weekend, for my sister & us. I will def. do a review afterwards...

Hi girls! I just noticed this post. I don't come on BHB that often...but now I feel like the official ambassador to the Raphael brides!

We had the sit-down dinner and blocked hotels at Danfords in Port Jefferson and the Hampton Inn East End. We had a coach bus for all of those staying in Port Jeff that went from PJ to church, church to Raphael and back to PJ. Those who stayed at the Hampton Inn provided their own transportation.
