Do you think that all places give the same rates for the same dates? For instance, I have been getting quotes for day and evening for Sept, Oct and Nov 2008. CLM quoted me for Saturday evenings Sept - $115pp, Oct - $95, and Nov - $80. Swan Club I was quoted Sept/Oct $90 and Nov $80. Does anyone have different pricing or is it pretty much all the same? I just wasnt sure if they quote high to make more commission? I work in media buying and negotiate all day to get rates down, I dont know if this is the same type of industry.

Re: Rates?
you will find that different places have different rates during the seasons. those two are on water so they will get less toward the winter.

Re: Rates?
You usually will get the same rate, I also got the same prices when i looked at CLM...But at the same time, you can still end up paying a different price than someone else who is getting married the same year, close to your wedding date so withing those months they quoted you for and still. Sometimes some people get things thrown in for free, and others just dont for whatever reason. I have seen this in quite a few threads...Some girls were talking about the same hall and some girls got the free chair covers and others didnt, and also got other things complimentary.

Re: Rates?
i think it depends on the hall! not every hall will be the same price!!! it also depends on the time of year

Re: Rates?
I think she means if a hall will give one person one price for the same day and another couple a completely different price

Re: Rates?
From my understanding each hall has different peak period my venue is the same price for a Sat night weather it's June or November, others offered July as a lower month based upon there peak time sched, so it varies...

Re: Rates?
I totally understand that there will be different rates for different months, day of week, time of day, etc, but I was just wondering if these rates are also negotiable? Not that I am being cheap, but I don't want to be stupid and just pay first offer if they are expecting a negotiation. Let me know if I sound crazy...like I said, I negotiate every day, I'm used to it. :)
You girls are great and I really appreciate the help. I really want to go to WOTY but my finance can't go - he has to work :( It sounds like fun, I want to be in the '08 group!

yes they are negotiable...and to everyone else, trust me sometimes people get different prices for some peak time, same year, same day of the week, and if they're both evening, it does happen. RH's do give so people a deal

You can DEF negotiate - some halls are harder to negotiate than others. Your best leveraging tool is number of guests....

Yes, I too believe that if you have a large wedding, you can use that to your advantage. My negotiating was minimal because we can only guarentee a certain number of people. I didn't realize this till I was looking at halls for Eparty. CLM was willing to negotiate if I could guarantee more, which of course I could not! HTH
