Rather Annoyed...

FH and I were going to go and get our marriage license tomorrow since we both got the OK to get off from work early...which is sooo hard right now. Anyways, I call today to make sure of what we need and let FH know to bring his birth certificate to my house tonight. He says he had to mail it in with his papers to get his passport! I had NO idea they needed the original for the passport! He sent the papers in early Jan, and we still havn't got anything...so I'm rather nervous. I called the passport number and the only information that they could give me was that it's at an agancy being processed....So I guess tomorrow we CAN'T get our marriage license. I have NO idea when we can get off from work next...this schucks lol. Girls, please hope that we'll get his passport and birth certificate in the mail within the next few days, and that we actually CAN get off from work.... Augh the frustration! LOL

Its ok i didnt use my birth certificate and neither did dh. I know in LI some locations or most you need it. But in queens you don't so not sure if you can get to queens but do that. They only require your license. And every girl on here that posted about going to the one in queens also said they didnt use a birth certificate.

ETA: i think even the one in the city you dont need it.

Hmmm....Queens is about a 45 min drive from me... Does anyone know of anywhere ELSE that only requires the license? That'll be perfect! lol

ahhh sorry didnt realize you were in suffolk. Hopefully a place in LI will only require a license, not sure though.

I did mine about 7 years ago...LOL...and I was still so young so my Mom did it all for me. But now that FH is getting his for the first time... I find this out today! I am nervious too... what if they lose it..? It's the original! Geez!

I think all the places in Suffolk require Driver License and Birth Cert.

i would call and ask, there is a number for the passport agency. I always did mine in person when i got my passport. BUT i had called recently bc alot of ladies on here said to change name on passport you need to mail in your original marriage license which i said no way, id rather do it in person then. BUT i then called the passport agency and even the guy said to me NO DONT DO THAT!!! he said to get a certified copy from the court. So not sure if it works the same with a birth certificate but maybe all thy need is a certified copy for that too. Call and double check

do you mean he went to the post office? sorry i meant that i went to the passport agency in the city and got my passport the same day, ive done that twice actually. Once when i was pretty young and then at 21 when i had to renew. In that case they wouldn't keep it bc you get your passport the same day so no need to.

The same thing happened to me, i sent my paper work in Nov and still didn't hear anything and it was March and we had to go to bermuda in April. I had to take a day off from work and go in to the city. It took all of 5min for them to get out my paper work. The kicker is i had to come back at 4pm that day to get the passport!! Bullsh**t!! I feel your pain.

OMG!! Really? That's horrible! We're leaving the day after our wedding to Ireland...so we def. NEED the passport, and now that he doesn't have his birth certiciate either, we can't get our marriage license! OMG!!!

its ok, ive noticed so many ppl dont know you can get your passport the same day and that there is an agency in the city.
