its ok, ive noticed so many ppl dont know you can get your passport the same day and that there is an agency in the city.

Honestly, if I knew that, I would have just made a day of it... this added stress is def. NOT worth it. LOL. Ah well...haha

well there is a catch though lol sorry should've mentioned it before. In order to do this, you have to be leaving somewhere in 2 weeks or less when you go there. And when you call to get an appt they do ask for the day you are leaving and can only get an appt if its 2 weeks or less. But its good in case pp have a situation where they have to leave ASAP and have no passport yet. When i did it both times i just waited until i was leaving and had a ticket already and went before I left.

You don't need a birth cert anywhere in NYC, it's just Nassau & Suffolk I believe..

Re: Rather Annoyed...

They mail back the original birth cert with the passport

Hmmm....Queens is about a 45 min drive from me... Does anyone know of anywhere ELSE that only requires the license? That'll be perfect! lol

ETA: I'm in Suffolk LOL

It might be worth the drive if tomorrow is the only day you can get off.

Wow! I mailed my birth certificate with my passport paperwork the same time as FH and we got our passports back 6 days later with our original certificates! I don't know if there is very high volume now but you should be getting it back within 6 weeks of the date you applied for your passport.

Re: Rather Annoyed...

Ugh I had such problems with DH passport/birth certificate. They lost everything and we never got his orig. birth certif. back

This is what you will need (maybe he has something other than a birth certif.)

ID Requirement in New York:
Your photo identity documentation must be current and valid.

The official web site for New York state marriage licenses states 'A person is required to establish proof of age and identity by submitting to the issuing clerk one of the following age related documents: Birth Certificate, Baptismal record, Naturalization record,Census record.

And one of the following identity related documents: Driver's license, Passport, Employment picture ID, Immigration record.'

Although they don't mention having a certified birth certificate, many locales in New York are requiring having a certified birth certificate and we recommend having this documentation with you when you apply for your marriage license.
Before you apply for your marriage license, contact the city or town clerk where you want to get married to verify their specific requirements for applying for a marriage license.

Awwww Dani Im so sorry!!! FH actually lucked out and got his passport within 2- 3 weeks of him going there. They also took his original birth certificate, but they also mailed it back with the new passport. Hopefully its in the mail and will get to you soon

Yea they take that and send it back with the passport when that comes. You can also go to NYC downtown to get a copy of the birth certificate. It's just a few dollars and you get it right there on the spot.... so if you really want to you can still get your license tomorrow! :)

I had to run to that place to get my birth certificate the morning b4 we were supposed to fly out to Louisiana a while back. There was no line when I went and it was VERY quick!

I live in Queens and I work in Syosset. Not a bad drive 20mins to 30 the most. I think since you cant get off work its worth the drive lol
