Re: RD poll
FH and I were planning on doing it, but FMIL offered to do it. FH and I were talking about diff places we were thinking of having it in front of her one day, and that's when she told us that she was planning on doing it. Why don't you guys just bring it up by maybe talking about it in front of her, and see if she offers.

Re: RD poll
I think it depends on how your FIL's are. With mine I have learned not to ask for anything because they are so cheap (even offered my parents help with the wedding when we got engaged and then decided not to later because ' no one ever gave them anything when they got married',....like we had anything to do with that!)
In the end they actually asked me if we were having a rd and I said no since we cant afford it and my parents are paying for majority of the wedding, at which point they were like oh if you arent going to have one then we will throw one since someone told them that its traditionally the grooms familys responsibility.
Moral of the story if you think they may be receptive to it I would have FH ask( they are his parents after all) but if not it may be better just to wait and see if they offer.

Re: RD poll
I think its fine. What we are doing is giving the FMIL and FFIL (they are divorced and have both remarried) the choice of hosting either the RD or the day after brunch. Both will be about the same size (or at least the same $ amount in the end), so it will work out fine. At least we think it will...

Re: RD poll
theyre in AK (or on road right now) so we cant bring it up in front of them.
totally should have done that when they visited 2 wks ago! aghh.
they def have the money to help, its not the issue. and if they didnt i would totally understand. its that they really just dont seem to know about this.

Re: RD poll
I'd say just be up front about it, tell them what the RD is, explain usually the groom's parents host/pay for it, so would they be willing to do that? I've found sometimes to get what you want, it's best to just say what's on your mind and dont worry about offending people! I hope it works out for you!

Re: RD poll
I have to say again (I replied to your last post), I think they should be asked but I don't think you should say a word.
IMHO I think because it's his family FH should do the talking.

oh it would def be him talking. i dont have that kind of relationship w/ them yet and would feel uncomfortable with approaching them on it by myself.
