So my question is this...for those of you getting married at the RH chances are you won't be having a rehearsal...are you still having a dinner? We would love to have a dinner and know that typicall the groom's parents do that but we feel funny asking about it since we aren't having a rehearsal. What do you think?

Re: RD Question
why wouldn't you have a rehersal? I plan on it, and my friend is having one and my FBIL had one. And we all got or are getting married at the RH. You can still have a rehersal even if you are getting married at the RH.

Not if there is an event taking place the night that youd liek ot have it...also truthfully, i dont know how necessary it is...my sister got married at the reception hall and she didnt have one (they wouldnt let her) Its not nearly as complicated as at a church or temple. I would check with your RH.
Edit: Also, not everyone will be able to get here the night before so a rehearsal might be pointless for us...we do still want to all get together!
edit again: my reply was in no way supposed to be snotty...ir ead it again and it might have sounded that way...sorry!

Re: RD Question
Lauren, A friend of mine got married at the HIlton in SI (during what i called the year of a million weddings) She called the hotel and asked if the week before, during the early hours, she could come in (When there wasn't something going on) So, everyone trooped down there and did a 'Mock' for the rehearsal... it was fun, and nice. And after wards we all went to a brunch.
Even if you do not have the rehearsal, it is still nice to have the dinner. I know what you mean asking your fils, we will have to do the same (even though we are getting married at the church)
What if you just had your bridal party only? I can help you make cute little news letter invites specifically for those people... and maybe you could have a simple get to gether instead? Just to get the families talking and excited for whats to come a few days later?

Re: RD Question
I think you should have a family dinner/wedding eve dinner to present the BP with their gifts, make speeches etc. I think its fine to ask his parents, if you think that they would be willing/able to chip in for it.

Yeah, thats a good idea also...we did this for fsil and fbil. They did NOT want a bachelor/ette party so the family took them out to a place they liked and then we went back to fils house for cake. It was nice as well

Re: RD Question
I think the chances are more likely that many brides who are getting married at the RH still have a rehersal the only thing is the bride has to be more accomdating and do it during and offpeak time for example maybe practice on Wednesday if your wedding is on the weekend. I seen my RH hold rehersal. It all up to bride and her persistance.

Re: RD Question
Lauren, Debi got married at CLM, with no rehearsal, but we had a lovely rehearsal dinner at Ambrosia Restaurant. It was nice to get together, and that's where Debi and Fred gave out the gifts. Mary MOB

No I didn't think that at all... I hope you didn't think I came off that way. It is preference, I guess. I want to have one and I know you have to have it when the RH has nothing going on, that is why I would plan on having it a couple of days before on a weekday. And i hope everyone will be available. I think you should speak to his parents about helping with it. But like someone mentioned definately get together to give out your gifts and as a thanks to everyone, even if its a bbq at your house. That is what I might plan to do, something at home...

Re: RD Question
If we dont have a rehearsal at the place we are probably going to run something at the house and then go to dinner.

Re: RD Question
You can still have a dinner without a rehersal to get all the important people in your life together to thank them for being apart of your special day.
