RD Question

Anyone on a tight budget and just doing something simple at home? Our guest list has grown and I just realized I never put the final number in my budget calculator. I just did and Now I´m looking for ways to cut even more (if that´s even possible)

I was talking to my mom and we were thinking of just doing something simple at home. Ordering food in or something like that. (I feel bad b.c you can tell she really wishes she could help but they´re in a tight spot now too. Thats why sometimes I don´t wanna tell her about the issues.)

Is anyone doing something similar what are you planning or what did you do? Is this bad idea?

Re: RD Question

I think it's a wonderful idea!

I would've definitely done something at home if my parents weren't divorced and having all of them in the same place wouldn't have been so awkward.

I think a RD that's also a casual, fun, personal party at someone's home is a great way to go! Plus for people who are OOT who come, you can order some food that's fantastic in NY, like NY pizza or subs or something!

Re: RD Question

Because my FIL's haven't made any motion indicating that they will be paying for anything, we are considering getting rid of the RD idea altogether.

Instead, since our rehearsal is like 7:45pm the night before our wedding, we are probably just going to have everyone back to my parent's house for cake and champagne and kick everyone out by 10-11ish so I can get my beauty rest!

Will keep you posted if things change, but that's what is in the cards for now at least.

Those are exactly two of the options that we were thinking about!!

Re: RD Question

I think I may just do this. We´re not having a formal Rehersal anyway. We´re getting married at the RH. I figure we´ll meet at the RH so they can at least see the room and get a feel for things and then we can go over everything at the house.

I´m feeling better about this decision. Thanks guys. Its so hard being on tight budget. Sometimes I feel like we´re sacrificing so much. But in the end I think it will all be worth it. Most of my fam knows we´re tight with money so I´m sure everyone will enjoy themselves anyway!!

Sorry I just started drifted off on a tangeant I got money on my mind right now!!

I think this is a great idea! I was in my friend's wedding and she did this. It was very casual, they ordered food and we all hung out and drank beers, it was great! Def a good way to save some $$$!

Re: RD Question

We're doing the RD at FIL's house. They have a big enough house that they can host all the people. I trust my FMIL in the food and everything.

So I don't think there's anything wrong with doing the RD from home. It gives all the guests you're having a time to relax!

We're actually having a catered bbq at FIL's house.
