I think you should be able to have a say. it is afterall your rehearsal dinner ,.. It's a gift that they are paying for it.. and they can also help plan it !

Yes you should have a say in it!! Common sense should dictate it be somewhere close in vicinity to the church. I hope you get this resolved so you have some peace of mind!

they are wrong. no matter who is paying the bride and groom always have say and final word on aspects of their wedding. i'd definitely have FH sit down and talk to them

you should def talk to them. my parents offered to pay for the RH and when I picked my 3 favs. I took FH, my mom and my 2 sisters to help in the decision.... At the end of the day we all liked the same one!

My FMIL is paying for the RD and planning the whole thing herself. I'm just looking at it as one less thing I have to do. Plus I'm not really involving her in too many aspects of the wedding planning, so its a way for her to feel involved in the process.

what does fh say about this? does he agree with you?

My FMIL was insistent on having the RD as a sit down dinner. This is NOT what FH and I wanted. I simply told her, this is what we want. If this is not something you're willing to pay for, then we will do it ourselves but thank you for the offer to help. We made the appt. to go look at the place we wanted to have it. She asked to come, loved it and is paying for it anyway.

We got what we wanted and did not have to pay. Just a suggestion, but if they want to pay bad enough, they will be more willing if you say it nicely and show that this is something you feel very adamant about. HTH!!

wow.

I think you need to speak up or this is something that's going to continue throughout the marriage. By that I mean that they'll feel like they can make certain demands and you'll be expected to just shut up about it.. You are not a little girl -- don't let them treat you like one.

Sit down and talk about what your concerns are -- such as the distance from the church and a cuisine you like. Maybe you can come up with a list of restaurants that you both like and then choose from there. Make it understood that you expect a compromise.

If that doesn't work, then pay for it yourself and don't apologize for standing up for yourself. it's your wedding and you have the right to be involved in every step of the process.

Good Luck.

So how did it work out...I think talking to FMIL might not be great...Just plan it and state that you found this great resturant and that you called and checked the sdate and time and everything works out well...

Plan something and then take it from there...
