RD Question.... (LONG)

Original post by evelynrtorres

Hey ladies, ok, I have a dumb question, do I hand out the gifts BEFORE dinner or AFTER the dinner???? Reason being My Maid of Honor (who's been a huge pain & not to mention useless) just informed me that she has to leave the dinner early. She just got a new boyfriend who lives in CA & is coming in to be with her at my wedding. This girl went to Vegas for my Bachlorette party & spent a total of THREE hours with me while she was there because she spent the rest of it with him. That really annoyed me and now she's doing it AGAIN to me. My FIL's are paying per head for a nice dinner & she's got the nerve to tell me she's leaving early because SHE FEELS bad he's by himself for a few hours!!!! He's 30 years old for crying out loud! I told her that I thought that was wrong & now she's telling me that she has to leave because it's her mom's birthday which I know is a lie because her mom's b'day is the next day.

Re: RD Question.... (LONG)

'Just a bridesmaid'???? That's nuts. I have been thrilled each time I got to be 'just a bridesmaid,' even when I watched my best friend turn into the craziest bridezilla ever to walk this planet who abused all of us to no end

You should definitely speak with her. If your profile is correct, your wedding and RD are right around the corner. The worst thing you could do at this point is put yourself in the position of being unhappy with this woman while she is standing next to you at the alter fixing your gown Nothing should intrude upon your happiness at that moment.

I hope that you two can work everything out before then. If not, give her the boot and replace her with someone else or, just call your Matron of Honor your Maid of Honor. I am a big proponent of not keeping people in your BP who you do not think you will remain close with AFTER the wedding.

Re: RD Question.... (LONG)

i totally agree that this girl is rude and deserves no more worry on your part, but I do have to say that I think dates should be invited to the RD, especially if they are from out of town and especially if they don't know anyone. This will allow them to meet some people and be more comfortable at the wedding. I know your case is different bc this girl is selfish, but if someone is important enough to be in your bridal party, the person they chose to share that day with them should be included, whether it be they were dating them for 2 years or 2 months! And I do agree that if it's a FIL's paying thing, than you can offer to pay. Again, not for this girl in particular since she has given you a hard time, just in general. Looking back, I've been abit of a jerk to my close friends when it came to guys I was newly dating, but not because I was selfish or because I didn't care about their feelings, just bc I got all caught up and wasn't thinking straight...

Re: RD Question.... (LONG)

Hi Evelyn, I hope that by now you are feeling better. I still think that you should step your foot down and not invite her date to the RD. First your other guests that did not take their dates are going to feel bad about it, second, I don't see what is the big deal about him being alone for few hours. If I were in his position I would totally understand. You have been planning your wedding for long time, and she knew that all this was coming, so it is very selfish that now she pulls back from her duty as a MOH and as your friend. However, if things don't get but worse ... I would have a big talk with her, and if needed I would replace her in my BP ... it is true, why to have someone there you are not going to be close later on.

good luck, let us know what happened.

Elena
