so FI & I are trying to figure out what size room we need for the RD b/c we are going back & forth on who to invite.....b/c we honestly just don't have the money to fork over for it.....
I have 5 friends w/ significant others coming from out ot state
FI has 3 familes from out of state one w/ two people in it another w/ 4 another w/ 5
WHERE DO I CUT THIS OFF! my RD is going to be a mini-wedding at this point. Is it inappropriate to not invite them??
That's TWENTY ONE extra people!!!!!
What would you do? Is it horrible to not invite them to it? I'm hoping my friends from MD are coming in late on Friday and I don't have to worry about it but do I invite them still and take that chance!

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
I have the same problem. I live in FL, marrying in NY. My family is flying in from all over the country where as my FH family all lives in L.I. So, I am inviting my bridal party & sig. others. My immeidate family from out of state and FH parents only! None of his family is coming. Nor are any of my OOT friends (unless they're BP). GL

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
If the only reason you were going to invite them is because they are coming from out-of-town, then I don't think you need to invite them... 21 extras are a lot of people!
Maybe if your dinner isn't too late, they can meet you out at a bar or something if you're going out afterwards to relax. If not, I still think its ok to not invite them. Rehearsal dinner is technically supposed to be for those involved with the ceremony.

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
You have to do what you can afford, we are in a similar situation, our list is crazy!! We are having about 60 ppl......that's just our parents, siblings, bridal party and their guests but we are inviting an extra 30 ppl. that will be here from Ireland. We figure if they came all that way for our wedding that we should have them there too.

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
I THINK rd etiquette is inviting immediate family, BP with guest, & OOT people...
It definatly does add up

I am in the same boat. I made a list the other day and almost fell off my chair when I saw it was over 50 people. I'm going to have to cut people somehow.

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
My RD really is going to be WEDDING PART 1!!
Its probably going to be 75 - 100 people.
My mom has a huge family and is insisting that all my aunts, uncles and cousins be invited.
Its so out of control that we have decided to call it a 'welcome dinner' because we're not actually rehearsing anything ...

I would keep it small-only the BP and your parents. Otherwise you can do a barbeque and maybe save a little $

Re: RD question....torn on who to invite...
We are having a large RD as well. We are inviting our familes and anyone who is a part of the wedding with their guests. I am inviting the entire family of my flower girls because they are triplets, plus they have an older brother and of course their parents. Also I am inviting my Aunt and Uncle on one side because their daughter and my cousin is a BM and their son is an usher. We are looking at around 50-60 people. Insane.
