Re: Cardboxes

Ok so my mom is totally wigging out about the idea of having a birdcage at the wedding because she said it will be too easy to steal. I really don't want to carry around a bag...

I dont want to do a photocube because our CP are arrangements of photographs. Sooo what are my other options? I was thinking maybe all you crafty folks could help me think of something secure but garden themed?

Any and all ideas are welcome. thanks in advance!

Re: Re: Cardboxes

I was given the suggestion of using a mailbox for our cardbox-I saw the corrugated cardboard ones by wilton and gaudy fabric covered ones in most wedding shops. I dont like either style. So I was considering buying a real mailbox...you can get them pretty cheaply online and then decorating it myself to our theme with Mrs. & Mrs. (insert last name) on the side.
Mailbox:

I uploaded the clipart I planned to base my design off of if I do this(would add gerber daisies also)-I would prob do it in permanent sharpie markers-bold colors and easier to control than paint. I don't know if I'd put a veil on the bride and suit on groom but she'd be more tan to mimic me. Hehe. When my MOH saw the clipart in our BM newsletter, she said, 'OMG! Looks just like you guys.' (I have a HUGE smile-used to be called Kool-Aid as a kid lol)

Do y'all think that is a good idea? Will it look dorky? Will it be too cartoony and too silly to have as a permanent mailbox?

The funny thing was that i was thinking of a mailbox to, but out of wood on a stand. Then you could wrap the post with a floral garland and create a picket fence around the base for that garden effect.

Oh I like that! That's definetly an idea, I still want to decorate it in some way if we are going to keep it. Maybe I will look online at photos of painted mailboxes to get ideas-if I use paint markers they might work beter.

I originally wanted to do the mailbox idea too. We were going to buy a real one and decorate it, then replace our old crappy mailbox with it after the wedding.

The only reason why I didn't is that I wanted something that locked. I wound up renting one of the treasure chest ones from my florist.

Re: Re: Cardboxes

Thats exactly the issue I am having. I am afraid it it doesn't lock, it will be a problem. -sighs- I REALLY dont want to feel all Godfather, walking around with a bag to collect envelopes and my mom's neurotic; if it isnt secured she will be hpvering all night to make sure no one steals it.

Any other ideas?

I was in AC Moore today and found the greatest thing for you to use. Theere is a huge wood watering can about the size of a large planter on sale for twenty bucks. You can put a top on it with a slot that has hinges and a lock, then it will be secure. Best part is you can paint it as you wanted to.
