Re:David's Bridal

Hi, I am going to start looking for my dress within the next week or two. I have known people who dealt with David's Bridal..and I have heard a lot of negative things about them..especially the store in Westbury on Glen Cove Road. I heard they are not helpful and have an attitude. Should I even bother looking there..though it seems according to their website there prices are cheaper? I also heard that on the weekend it is like a madhouse in there and they have very little help. Anyone know anything about Bridal Reflections which is also in Westbury? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Allison

Re:David`s Bridal

Allison, I ordered my dress from David`s and I got a good price but I would NOT recomend going on a weekend. I went one Monday night with my sister and it was totally empty!! We actually got some help trying on dresses. They arent very helpful and I can only assume they are that way because they are so busy. Whats nice about Davids is that no matter what size you are you can go in and try on dresses in your size, unlike regular bridal stores where the dresses may all be a size 10 or 12. Its hard to judge how a dress will look on you when it is too small on you. I would try them just to see what styles that you like and what looks good on you then if you are not compfortable with them go some where else to order your dress, I hope that helps. Lisa

Re:David`s Bridal vs Bridal Reflections -long

If you are talking about the Bridal Reflections in Carle Place you are at two opposite ends of the gown search spectrum here in terms of price and service. I found it very helpful to try on a lot of styles or dress lines(I think I tried everything but a straight gown on)when I started looking. I found RK Bridal in NYC and Macy's Flowerama Manhasset to have the largest selections. Macys definately had a higher level of service - a salesperson brings in the gowns and makes suggestions vs. the self service at RK. The point here is you can try on a lot of gown styles in one place. Once you have found a style or two you love you can concentrate on finding 'The Dress'. Thats when you need to narrow down your budget and decide on the salon you will use. You will find salons grouped loosely by price range - * - this is not necessarily a reflection of their service. I found it helpful to ask about thier price range when making an appointment - no sense in wasting time at a salon that was way out of my budget. Anyway this is just my experience for what its worth. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Re:David`s Bridal

I purchased my dress at David's and my bridesmaids got their dresses there too. I have had my first fitting and all their dresses are in. We have not had any problems. My salesperson Theresa is wonderful (not rude or pushy at all). Francois is doing my alterations and so far I am very happy with her. I hope it all continues to go well, but so far, thumbs up for David's Bridal on Glen Cove Rd.

Re:David`s Bridal vs Bridal Reflections -long

Good point. I went to both places in one day and what a difference. I stood around in Davids like a jerk waiting for someone to tell me what to do not realizing it was self service. Then when I walked into Bridal Reflections to see if they by any chance had an opening, I got the high brow look and was told how much their dresses start at. To see 'if this was a store for me'. Whatever, it all depends on what you want to spend. Ended up at Saymel's - middle of the road prices, one on one service each of the three times I went to try on dresses.

Re:David`s Bridal vs Bridal Reflections -long

Kate, I think that is the rudest thing someone can do or say, when they tell you how much their dresses start at as to say you can't afford one there!!! They don't know you or what you can afford!!! I went to Bridal Reflections and found them no help at all! I took about 30 bridesmaids dresses in at a time and no-one said a word!

David's

I bought my dress there; Lupe was my salesperson and I thought she was great. She even helped me put my hair in a makeshift updo so I could try veils on as well. The good thing is if you can get your dress off the rack (like I did) it minimizes the length of time you have to deal with them and the chance that there will be any problems. I have heard some negative things about their alterations, though, so I'm thinking of taking my dress elsewhere for my fitting. Good Luck.

Re:David`s Bridal vs Bridal Reflections -long

I know, it was like they didn't want to waste their time if I didn't have enough in my checkbook. I'm a big girl, if I noticed I couldn't afford the dresses I would have left OR perhaps if I fell in love with a $3,000 dress maybe I would extend my budget just so I could get the dress I want. By the way, I didn't see anything I like in the $1,500-3,000 range that I liked anyway!

Re:David`s BridalStay Away!!1

Allison, I had a horrible experience w/ davids bridal on Glen Cove Rd w/ my flower girls dress. Do not get your gown there. do go to a reputable store like bridal reflections. Davids' bridal will give you nothing but headaches during your most exciting time!. besides, their seamstress's are terrible!

I don't mean to offend anyone...(Long)

For all you ladies that bought their dress at David's Bridal, I don't mean to offend you by putting them down. I had an awful experience w/ only my flower girls dress, couln't imagine if it was my gown. Every one has different experiences at all different places. I wish you all luck w/ your gowns, and do hope you get respectable salespeople. My experience w/ Davids in Carle place was horrible, and the salespeople had bad attitudes, and not helpful, in my case. So I do apoligize if I offended anyone

Re:David`s Bridal - New Jersey (long)

I had a terrible experience with David's Bridal in New Jersey (where I currently live)! I didn't buy my gown there but went with my friend to look for bridesmaid's gowns. They made me fill out their information form and assigned me a sales-woman. She pointed us towards the bridesmaid dresses and said she would be right back, she was finishing up with a bride. Needless to say, 45 minutes later, she never returned. After trying on some dresses, we found one we liked, only to be told that it was discontinued and no sizes were left. Why the heck was it out then with the rest of the new dresses??? By the time we left the store an hour after we walked in, they had lost my information sheet and called me by 2 other names by accident. I don't know about you, but if they can't find my information an hour after I walk in the door, how can I expect them to order my bridesmaid dresses and remember whose they are?? We found dresses at the salon where I have my gown and are ordering them there, where quality service is provided.

Re:David`s Bridal - Even in NC.. BAD (LONG)

I had a bad experience too. I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding last year. We all lived all over the place so we ordered them from one david's bridal. Really no problem with ordering it. BUT.. when I needed to get it altered I only had a week to do it, before the wedding. I asked how long they took to alter their BM gowns and was told two weeks, but that I could pay an extra $10 (may have been $20) to put a rush on it and have it in a week. So I take it in on a Tuesday, and ask if I can get it the following Wednesday (I was flying to NY for the wedding on Friday). I came back that Wednesday, and they couldn't find the dress. Then they found it and said 'Oh, we didn't do it. You didn't pay for it.' I really lost control in the store. I paid for it the day I dropped it off and the seamstress fitted me. They lost the receipt or never attached it to the dress. I was flipping out. Well she said she could do it for me and have it the next day. They just needed the receipt. Well I was in the middle of moving and didnt' think I knew where it was. Luckily I found it. Thank god I gave myself a day leadway, just in case. GEEZ!! I did get it the next day though. Plus the women in alterations were not very nice to me at all! And it was expensive to alter (only a 1/4 inch hem). Then last weekend I went there (against my better judgement) to look for a veil/headpiece. Walked in...asked the sales woman if it was all right to look at veils without appt. She said yes, go ahead and I'll be back there to help you in a minute. I was there for about 20 minutes and no one ever came to help me out. So again, they proved again that they are not a customer friendly place. Sorry so long...

Re:David`s Bridal - Even in Yonkers...Bad

Ladies, My sister also had a bad experiece. She bought her dress and shoes there. When she went to pick up her dress (plum) the shoes were died LILAC. They had to be re-dyed and still were not the correct color. I pitched a fit and got about 15% off the shoes

Re:David`s Bridal - Stef28

I guess they just have enough people who do come in because of the prices that they don't worry about the ones that they scare away. Oh well. I'm glad some people had a good experience. It's terrible to hear bad experiences for brides, on such a joyous occasion.
