? Re: Episcopalian Processionals

I was raised Catholic, but we're getting married in my FH's church (he's Episcopalian). From what I understand the ceremonies are VERY similar; however, I'm trying to start our programs and I don't know how the processional works. I seem to remember our priest saying that the guys walk in when the ceremony starts, but I don't know if it's with the girls or on their own before the girls walk in (which I read is what happens on a website or two)...I'd ask our priest, but he is really hard to get in touch with and prob won't call me back Does anyone know how it traditionally works in an Episcopalian wedding? Thanks!!!

Re: ? Re: Episcopalian Processionals

Why does the order of the processional have to go in the program?

There is no 'set' processional for Catholic weddings or Episcopalian. My brother was married in an Episcopalian church and they chose their processional just as I did in the Catholic church. I think they had the guys walk down two by two and then the bridesmaids one by one after that.

Grandparents are seated, then groom's parents, then bride's mother (if not walking her down the aisle), then GMs, BMs (or GMs escorting BMs or BMs if GMs will be waiting at the front of the church), then RB / FG if you're having them, then the bride.

HTH.

ETA - Our processional wasn't even set until the rehearsal the night before. We just listed the names of everyone in our programs... We may have put something along the lines of 'Seating of the Mothers, Bridal Party Processional, Bridal Processional' but nothing more specific than that. I'll double-check for you...

Re: ? Re: Episcopalian Processionals

Thanks - I just want to make sure that the names in the program are in order (if Sue will be followed by Mary and then Jill, I want the list in the program to be in that order so that the guests know who's who) and while thinking about it, I realized that I had no real idea of how it will work...pairs, singles, I really just want to know because I'm curious...

I've heard that the guys walking down in pairs is a Protestant thing (which I've never seen) and our priest is OLD SCHOOL, so we're not allowed to change much...he has a way that he wants things done & that's the way we need to do it. I'm 100% ok with that, but I just want to know what the traditional way is so that I can properly envision how it's going to work...Thanks for your help.
