Re:Hawaii
Hi, I know a number of people on this board are going to Hawaii on there honeymoon. I am still in the process of deciding between that and Sandals in the Bahamas. I know people who have been to Sandals but not Hawaii. I have a few questions..how many days are u going for and what islands are u going to...I heard that most people hit like 2-3 islands..u need to spend a few days on each..and also how much is it costing..I have heard from a number of people that Hawaii is the most expensive place to go on ure honeymoon..one other thing..do they have any type of all-inclusive meal packages...I know for 2 people Sandals is going to run around $4,000 for 2 people...I was wondering as to how much more Hawaii would be. Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks, Allison

Re:Hawaii
Just a quick note...It was more expensive for us to go to Disney then to Hawaii, so we choose Hawaii. It isn`t the most expensive. We stayed on the islands of Maui and Oahu..if I did it again it would be Maui and Kuai. 12 days in Hawaii wasn`t much more than your price listed above and we were in nice resorts however it was not all inclusive.

Re:Hawaii
We went to Hawaii in February for our honeymoon. We spent a day and a half in Oahu (wanted to see Pearl Harbor), 4 days in Maui and 3 days in Kaui. We spent over $4,000 easily

Re:Hawaii
We are going to Hawaii in 10 days!! It is costing us way over $4000, but I'm sure there are packages that are less expensive. We are spending 2 1/2 days on Oahu, 4 1/2 days on Maui, and 2 1/2 days on Hawaii (Bid Island) The package included 1st class airfare, the hotels we requested and a convertable rental car on Maui and Hawaii.

Re:Hawaii
First major cost is airfare, which would be around $750 each round trip from what I've been seeing. Then if your are island hopping there is extra airfare - which is another few hundred. Then hotel rooms which of course range significantly depending on what you want, plus meals. Were you planning just a one week honeymoon or two? Travel time to the Bahamas is much much less, which is important if the honeymoon is only one week!

Re:Hawaii
We are going to Maui and Kauai, 7 and 6 days respectively in August staying at the Four Season and Hyatt Regency. With rental cars, breakfasts and all flights (we used some miles for the flights there) and budgeting $300 a day for food and activities, we are looking to spend about $10,000. From what I have heard, the amounts seem pretty realistic. Some may say it is ridiculous, others say you only do it once, to each their own. We have gone on all-inclusives (Sandals) and done the Disney trip and loved them both- Good luck with the decision.

Re:Hawaii
We are going to Maui 6 days, The Big Island 2 days (on the volcano), and Kauai for 5 days. We saved up airline miles so the airfare is free, but we are still expecting it to cost around 4,000 - 5,000 depending on what we do there. The hotels are VERY expensive overall. We travel often and I have never stayed anywhere as expensive. However, we are getting a discount due to our miles and many travel agents can offer good packages. Either way you go, your honeymoon will be pretty expensive. You really have to decide on the type of honeymoon. Going to the Bahamas is relaxing and a quick flight. You also don't have to stay more than a few days. I hope Hawaii is relaxing, but we do plan on doing sightseeing.

Re:Hawaii
We are going to Kauai for 6 days, Maui for 4 days and Las Vegas for 4 days. Unfortunately, it is costing way over $4000. We are staying at the Hyatt Regency on both Hawaiian islands and at the Bellagio in Vegas, none of which are all inclusive. The best bet is to ask your travel agent for help in planning. Get some different options and then decide which price is best for you.

Re:Hawaii
Allison, you may want to look into Pleasant Hawaiian Vacations.(www.Pleasantholidays.com) They allow you to see different packages based on hotel and airfare. We had the same issues. We were able to find a package to go to Hawaii for 8 days for about 4,000. (Not all inclusive)

Re:Hawaii
We're staying at the Orchid on the Big Island for 5 nights and the Sheraton on Kawaii for 6 nights. With hotel, airfare and car rental, we're spending almost $5500. None of these places are all-inclusive (almost nothing on Hawaii is). There are lots of hotels there with a variety of prices, but the airfare is expensive no matter what. Lots of luck!!!

Re:Hawaii - Waikiki & Maui for 10 nights
Staying at the Hyatt in Waikiki and Ritz Carltun in Maui. After a lot of research we booked thru Liberty Travel who had specials with both hotels - 5th night free and daily breakfast. Airport transfers in Waikiki and a car in Maui. Total price around $4,600 which was in keeping with all packages I saw. Only disappointment is that American Airlines will not let us use miles to upgrade to 1st class.... We could have also added on a few days in San Diego for a few hundred dollars but that would mean coming back to NY on Sunday and back to work on Monday @ 9am - I couldn`t do it. Depending on what Islands you want to visit and how long you plan to stay - just plan a rough itinerary and call all the major providers - AA Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, and your local travel agents. Good Luck

Valenia - My hotels
Excellent choices! I've read a bit about each of those hotels and they sound fantastic. We were planning on the Halekulani for a few days as well, but haven't booked anything yet (July 2002 for the honeymoon!). Please give a full report when you return, I can't wait to hear all about it. I've still got over a year to plan so your advice would be really helpful!!!Welcome New Vendors
