With over a year to go for my wedding, I am anticipating some issues that will arise. This thread started about 4 years ago, but I don't know how to bump so i copied the subject onto this one. This Support Group is here to vent out frustrations in regards to FMIL.
I'll start:
My FMIL and I get along great, my only issue with her is the way she treats FH. FH and I still live at home until after we get married. Compared to the way FMIL treats him, I think I'm VERY spoiled with the way my mom raised me. FMIL has her moments when she talks down to him really bad and that annoys me because it is all over petty issues. Also, because he is the last one living with her, she relies on him greatly for mostly EVERYTHING. She doesn't want to live too far from wherever we move to after we're married either. I also know that she is going to get on me because FH and I are of different denominations and I refuse to get re-baptized. Compared to the 2004 thread, I really don't have it as bad as I thought.

I'm super lucky... FMIL lives in Florida and FH doesnt really talk to her that often. Just the way I like it - problem free!

yeah, I wouldnt move too close to her after your wedding. The closer you are to her, the more she will be calling your FH to help her do things and then she will get used to him helping ... and that will be the end of it. It wont stop after that

Re: Re: Official FMIL Issue Support Group
I have to say that my FMIL is extremely respectful and we don't really butt heads. She's not controlling or overbearing and she rarely even involves herself so as not to upset anyone. I only wish we were closer with one another. It seems that we're not extremely close and I guess that has a lot to do with how late I'm coming in to her life (FH is the youngest). So there are other in-laws, children, grandchildren, etc. and since I come from a very small family I feel overwhelmed at times and I don't feel as connected with FMIL as I'd like to.

My FMIL is apparently buying a house up here and probably moving I have come to see that she is very manipulative when it comes to FH and it's really sad.

My FMIL is a great woman and we get along great. However, I see how she is with other people and wonder if that side will ever cross with me. But at the same time, she is SO generous so it definately makes up for the bad.

Re: Re: Official FMIL Issue Support Group
my FMIL is the same way. his sister is 5 years old then him and does nothing for FMIL yet FMIL always takes FSIL side. FH is blamed for everything. but because she is the only parent he lets it slide. i get to POed at time that i want to throw her over our balcony.
thank god FMIL is moving to NC this month cause FSIL is giving birth next month to her first kid. i already told FH if he wants to move there he's going to have to do it without me cause i'm never going there.
FMIL is sssoooooo pushy. i can't stand it at times.
