We came to the conclusion of giving wine. But we don't know if to give a big bottle or two small ones. Opinions please. Thank you.

i like the idea of two small - maybe a different combination for different couples to make it interesting? i think it's a great idea!

I was wondering the same thing. I think one big bottle is nice if you know people like a certain wine, but the two small ones are nice for variety. I think wine is such a great idea... What does everyone think about one favor per couple? I thought it was per person, but my mom says it's one favor per couple (with the exception of people who are there by themselves)..

leeleelee: That's exactly how I plan on doing it (one per couple, unless they are by themselves). I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

I know, that's the problem - I just wasn't sure if it's customary to have one pp or per couple. I'm pretty sure etiquette is one per couple, but when I first heard that, I wasn't sure if it sounded right.

Re: Re-posting: Wine as a favor....
We gave out wine as a favor. We chose to give out 1 per couple (and for who were single received a big bottle for themselves). We had mostly white wine with some red mixed in, but you can't do wrong with a Chardonnay (sp?). DH and I drink a lot of wine and are becoming knowledgable in this area. A concern we had about the smaller bottles is that the quality of the wine is not great.
We got a great deal at Duckwalk and Pindar Vineyards.

I think the 2 small bottles...a red and a white...is perfect.

Agreed. We are doing full size for out OOT (Hotel) guests and since they are mostly family, I am trying to give red or white based on preferences I am aware of, which I think would be difficult for the entire guest list.
We got our wine at Osprey's Dominion out east and I am a club member - where they also have 'birthday club' - if you go within two weeks of your birthday, you get the discount of your age! It was a great savings (they do not haev small bottles though).

I like the big bottle idea. I would just get a mixture of red & white and then either set it out on the tables or hand one to each couple as they leave and you can ask which they prefer. When you get down to one color, then stop asking

I think 2 small SOUNDS THeoretically nice, but as a wine drinker myself, they really don't have enough in them to be worth even opening.
If they have a big bottle it can be recorked and you don't feel like once you open it, your done w. it. You know?

I'm leaning towards the big bottle (I'll mix, white, red & blush), but I just don't know how to give them out. Would I place them with the place card, or at the tables? Any suggestions?
P.S. Thanks again for your opinions.

My vote is for one big bottle of red.

Although I'm a fan of white, its so hard to know which people prefer so I think its easiest to get the red and white combo

I saw smething cool in a magazine. They had the bottles of wine in buckets and the entrance with the placecards attached to the neck!
