READ IF YOU ARE MAILING YOUR INVITES BEFORE MAY 14!!!!!

So we finished our invites last week...bought stamps to put on the response card envelopes and everything. Yesterday my FH found out that postage is going up May 14....all our invites are already sealed. So we went to mail them out this morning and asked the man working at the post office what would happen to the responses people mailed back after May 14 (our rsvp date is June 14). He said if people did not put a return address on them and no extra postage they are sent to Montana to be opened up...then they will contact the person it was supposed to be sent to but it takes atleast 3 months...so we wouldn't get them in the mail until AFTER the wedding! That means we will have to call everyone who's invites we dont receive before May 14!!!

So if you're invites are going out before that date...make sure you put extra postage on there to make sure you actually receive your rsvps in the mail!!!!

yikes, what a complicated situaion... At least it won't happen again (after the birth of the 'forever stamp')

I was reading about that forever stamp.. it makes it seem like you can buy a bunch of stamps at that price, but once you run out that is it.

i want to find out more about it/

I'm so annoyed at the post office! I recently bought the wedding stamps and they didn't even mention that the price was going to go up! They should really allow a grace period after May 14th for situations like this. Plus, you would think the postal workers would be able to recognize wedding response cards and let them go through since obviously they were sent out to guests way before May 14th.
That's awful that yours are already mailed out! Hopefully your guests will either mail them back to you before May 14th, or at least know to put the extra postage on.

FYI - The new higher priced stamps will be available for purchase as of this Thursday -- so there is no reason for anyone to send our their response cards without the right postage after that date... unless you sealed the envelopes.

They basically DO offer a grace period, seeing as you start buying the new stamps on April 12 and you don't NEED the higher postage until May 14...

I HATE THE POST OFFICE!!! i already put stamps on all of my reply cards. I thought I was getting ahead of the game by doing this and sealing them. I am BEYOND annoyed

Hopefully people realize that there isnt enough postage on the response envelopes and put the extra stamp on themselves and dont just send it out without enough.

I cant imagine how much postage is going to be for my 2009 wedding

Just go get $.02 stamps and add them to the response card envelopes.
