So help me out- how did you make your cardbox???? Did you put on the fabric first..then cut? Or cut the holes THEn put on the fabric?

I'm so lost.

Re: ready to make my DIY cardbox

I took an envelope and cut the hole
put the fabric on
then cut the hole for the fabric (and put the edges inside)..it was easier for me this way

Then added ribbon..still have to put stones and sticker on

i cut the holes first because cutting the fabric and the box at the same time would have been harder.

cut the slot... (it depends what kind of box youre doing. im guessing stacked?)

2nd to last box u cute a slot.. but cut a big slot.. not just 1 big enough to fit an envelope. ( i took a pack of 8 ty cards i had laying around and measured it that way, width wise).. then u cut the bottom of the 2nd to last box and the top of the last box..

then u glue on the fabric. but make sure its a tight fit. cuz then u will have to take a razor and cut out the part where the cardslot is.

if your boxes have lids... wrap the lid and boxes idividually. the last thing u shoudl do is glue them togeher.

I cut the holes in the box first, then covered it in fabric. Then, where I had to cut out the fabric (like for the card slot) I cut like an X shape in the middle so I could fold all sides nicely & smoothly.

It's not difficult but it is time consuming if you're anything like me b/c I am a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff I couldn't have any wrinkles or creases lol

oh and dont cut to boxes completely on the bottom. u need to leave an inch on all 4 sides so u can eventually glue the bottom box to the 1 above where the cards go in

Good luck! I've never made a cardbox, but I'm thinking cut it first and then put the fabric on.

hint for anyone else needing to make one...

I have to still put mine together, but i found cute, all ready decorated boxes (like hat boxes) of different sizes from the Christmas Tree Shope.

All I have to do is cut the hole and glue them stacked on top of each other..

I'll post a pic once it's done!
