There were a few new houses added to mlsli.com that I noticed this morning.

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
I discovered that if they don't show interior picutres, it's usually in a pretty bad state. From looking at the map on MLSLI, it looks like it backs up on the service road to SSP.

I'm gonna guess that the inside looks worse than the outside.
It will probably cost the buyers a lot of money to fix it up - which sould be taken into consideration with the asking price.
How the he## can people ask over a quarter of a MILLION dollars for a house that is complete GARBAGE??? It's beyond me!!!

The map that I'm seeing has this house completely south of the Southern State Parkway .. but north of Montauk Hwy.
To me, it appears to be just off Rt. 231 .. falling between Southern State & Sunrise Hwy.

Please no one take offense to this but North Babylon is not great. And those taxes are high for that area!! I think anyway.

Hey, I live in North Babylon!
Sorry. The taxes are almost $7,000 and in my opinion are a lot for North Babylon.

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
Actually I don't think 7k is bad for taxes in North Babylon. I would put NB on the same scale as Deer Park. It has some good and not so great areas but it is a nice place to live.

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
I agree. My taxes are almost 8K and I think it is INSANE, but like Lullabella said, like most towns, NB has it's good areas and its bad.
We live in the Poet Section of NB, which is a very desirable part of NB. We love our neighborhood!

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
If $7k-$8k is high taxes for North Babylon .. then what is considered reasonable????? And what is low???
It seems impossible for taxes to be lower than that on Long Island these days.

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
Low is $4000 to $6000....You hardly ever see taxes that low though. I went to one open house in N bellmore. The house was totally updated and the taxes were $5400 without star. I would call the town on that one though....I doubt thats before star.....
Anywhere you go now taxes are pretty high...Cheapest we saw in N bab when we were looking was $5800, and the most expensive we saw in Levittown for $9100, and that was for a levvitt cape.... Scott

Realisticly I don't think you can find a house with taxes that low. A friend just bought a house and his taxes are 3,500 but the areas is kind of industrial. He doesn't care because he is a single guy and plans on turning it into a rental in a few years.

Re: Real Fixer upper in North Babylon
I know when we were looking, out in Holbrook and Holtsville. The taxes out there were under $4,000. One house was $3,800, one was $3,500. But that was over two years ago. However, I think the further east you go in some areas, the taxes are lower... You can def. find taxes I think for $5K in some areas of LI.
Our friends have a house in West Babylon (new construction) and they pay $12k! Our friends in Manorville pay almost $11K (but they have like 3 acres of property!)
