Real flowers on cake

Since it's cheaper, I'm probably going to have my florist use a few real flowers to decorate my cake. Everything I look at online looks cheesy. Anyone have pictures of their cakes using real flowers so I can get some ideas?

Re: Real flowers on cake

Are you having a cake topper? If so I would over crowd the top with flowers. I would have either trailing flowers or a few flowers lightly placed on each tier. Hope that helps.

Re: Real flowers on cake

We used real flowers for our cake.
If you're using real flowers just make sure that florist gets it from a safe source to avoid contaminating the cake. HTH!

Real flowers on cake - Long Island Weddings

No, you definitely cannot use any flowers on a cake. Some are not safe in contact with food. Also, some bakeries will not use fresh flowers at all to avoid liability issues. I think lilies are ok as long as they are thoroughly washed and clean but definitely discuss this with your florist.

Sugar flowers is also a good option.

I don't have a picture, but I'm doing roses between the layers, so they're not touching the actual cake. The bakery will put those old school columns in and then the florist will completely fill the space with roses so you can't see the columns.

Real flowers on cake - Long Island Weddings

You can put any type of flower in the cake. Your florist should know a few tricks on not to put the stem directly into the cake for it to be safe.

Real flowers on cake - Long Island Weddings

I have a picture of my cake in the Hidden Essence album. I was not putting any flowers on but the day of they told me the cake topper was too heavy so Michelle put these on while she was there setting up.

Re: Real flowers on cake

I'm thinking of having one like this.
I love the bling and a few flowers but not too many and I love that the middle tear isn't plain. I too am having the initial cake topper
