ok my good friend of childhood..we were best friends till highschool than she moved to Texas, and we spoke but not as often and kinda grew apart, but she always knew the big picture with me... school, family life, about FH, we would share those tidbits..whenever i had time.
she told me she had liked this guy and they were dating....and thats about as much as we ever got in to it, even when i did ask her how things were, etc she was like 'yea its going hes nice '
well when i got engaged, she was one of the first persons i told, and she was pretty happy for me and so forth...but she got engaged and never even bothered to mention how SERIOUS they were, or it was gona happen anytime soon, or even HOW HE PROPOSED, she hasnt even told me that ...and she never told me she got engaged i found out through a third person
i sent her a nice congratulations card despite it all.... and wished her well , but im really shocked as to why she did this...and how it happened...and even now shes being so SHADY!

Re: real friends?
It might of been a not so big deal thing for your friends. I think since you guys talk she should of mentioned the importance of the relationship unless of course she really isn't that thrilled about the engagement initially. I feel for ya.. i would of been upset too but i think its not a complete upset in the sense because i have a funny feeling it just wansn't something so important to her.
you know what dont even worry bout her. if she didnt want to tell you then screw here!!!!!!!!!! she doesbt seem thrilled bout her engagement so why should you? so dont worry your special day is comin so its all bout you girl good luck

Re: real friends?
Why don't you try giving her a phone call or write her an email? There might be some underlying issue for her not wanting to tell you about her engagement.

Friends can be funny sometimes, esp when it comes to things like this. Sorry you're upset, but I'm sure that wasn't her intention. Maybe she didn't want to steal the show by making a big deal about her engagment. Maybe she thought that would make you more upset, apparently it backfired.

Try not to worry too much about it, you never know why someone may have their reasons. Don't feel bad, my best friend went and got MARRIED and then just showed up at my house with a ring. Talk about hurt....

don't worry about it, maybe the proposal was a surprise and maybe he prososed in a bad way and she doesn't want to talk about it. It happens

Re: real friends?
That is def a sketchy thing for her to do. Maybe ask her why she didn't tell you and tell her it surprised you that you had to hear from someone else.

that's what i would think. that would be my reasoning anyway - to not steal your thunder and mention it quietly. make a big deal out of it later, after you got married. then again, it could be for another reason, i don't know her. but i wouldn't stress over it either way. she was either being nice and if not, it's not worth your time. everyone's got their own reasons, as vague as they may seem.

Re: real friends?
Yeah I know thats very weird... Same thing happened to me [kinda] when I got enagaged to Dh aftetr only 6 months, I told my really good friend [who moved to FLA] and i got her vm and SHE NEVER EVER called me to congratulate me, anything! and i also sent out a generic email to everyone, family, friends of how it happened in detail and never once emailed me back or said congratulations or asked about the wedding planning, henceforth, i was engaged for 1 year and 4 months, then we got married, and inviting her to the wedding was never even i thought in my mind....why would i!??! what kind of friend was she . . .
I think friends should tell eachother these things, and I sent out an email to eveyrone that night [alot of which i called over the phone, as well] and my friend got engaged, anout a year and a month after me and she sent me a link to her wedding website though email and then i found out she was engaged like a week later! i wish i would have knew the NIGHT OF, or at least the next day so I can share in the excitement . . . but it was still a cute way to share the news! It made my hellacious day at work wonderful to know my friend was engaged and is getting married!!!
I think you're friend is acting very shady......and its just very weird!
