Real or Silk?

Flowers are soooo pretty and if I can get a really good price on silk flowers that people can keep forever why not?

What are your thoughts

Fancy, my dear...I think we are on the same mental wave length. I am doing silk flowers. My mom and I are going to ACMoore one friday and having the florist lady help us make a boquet. We are then going to slowly buy all the flowers with the weekly 40-50% off coupons. Then we are going to have a 'girls night in' and all make our own boquets! It is going to be so much fun. and the girls are excited because they get to keep them! I'm not having flowers in the RH or for Centerpieces. I am doing candles.

ETA: I also asked around to photographers, and they say that the flowers look reall in pics, so no one will be the wiser

I like real flowers, but didn't want to spend a bundle on them. We booked a budget florsit. If you like silk flowers better, go for it. It's good to be the bride - anything you want goes!

FH and I perfer real flowers. Real Flowers have a nice look to them and a nice scent to them.

When my dad was alive he loved planting. He passed away eleven years ago. The flowers in our front yard keep coming up every spring which is a beautiful memory.

if flowers are not somethine super important.. than go with silk.. they are very pretty.
then you can use the money you save to put towards something else.

either way, they are both very pretty.

flowers are not super important to me, but i still want real. i love the smells and the overall look. i have seen some very nice silk flowers, so if that's what you want to do, I wouldn't worry about it.

I want to do both silk and real flowers. Real bok's and boutiners (sp). I want the RH flowers to be silk. And i want FSIL to make me a replica of my bok.

Were having real flowers at the RH and silk flowers at the ceremony....It's all about your personal preference.

Re: Real or Silk?

Those are lovely. But watch out - badly-made silk flowers are BAD. Like, 'what they put on tabletops at diners' cheesy. So if you're going to go for fake flowers, put a little extra $$$ into them, otherwise, why have the flower look at all?

I'm having real flowers - I really think they brighten up a room (and my mood!) in a way silk ones couldn't. But having silk flower petals for my aisle - I've heard bad things about what flowers can do to your dress! Hey- that's another reason to go for silk then, if you're looking for one. I've heard more than one story about a bride's dress getting stained by flowers.

i think silk can be pulled off very nicely if done the right way. im not too big into flowers and will probably have a CP with three flowers in it in a tall thin vase which will be real. Since there wont be too many flowers, i can afford real. if i wanted a huge bouquet i might consider silk because that can be really classy too.

I love real flowers, but silk wouldn't look terrible - it's really up to you and your FH
