Realistic Commute from Suffolk Countey / need opionions.
I am from Nassau but we are considering a move to Suffolk. I don't know Suffolk that well. Can anyone tell me what towns present a somewhat reasonable commute, say 2 hours or less. In a nice community of course.
Thanks so much.

Babylon is the ideal area for a commuter because of the trains. Hope this helps.

My boss lives in Manorville and I believe his commute to Downtown Manhattan is a little over 2 hours.

Ronkonkoma is about 2 hours (just under depending on what express you catch) to NYC by train.

I take a 6:08am train from Ronkonkoma and Im in Penn by 7:20. If I take the 7:01 train im in by 8:15...no too bad!!

For the ladies w/these commutes, what is it like. I'm kind of nervous I'll be 100% exhausted. My commute now is one hour.

Also, have you ever thought about moving closer to the city, or do you love where you live and will take the commute because of it.

I used to live in Massapequa and that was a great commute but we moived out to Holbrook to be closer to family. I have definatly gotten used to the commute...I read and sleep!!
If we could have....we would have stayed in Massapequa, but the houses are just too damn expensive and so are the taxes for the pieces of property that you get.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I commute from Ronkonkoma and door to door (I live in Farmingville and work in Tribeca) it is 2 hours and 15 minutes barring any delays. It is exhausting but after 13 years, I've learned to use my time wisely : ).
If your going to be commuting into the city forever I would suggest someplace like Babylon/West Islip. They have a great train line and the ride is about an hour.

Also think it depends where you work in NYC ... how much of your commute is added subway travel.
I live in Fort Salonga/Northport and took the railroad from Kings Park to Hunterspoint Ave (because I could jump on the 7 train for a quick ride to Grand Central where my office was).
I'd say from when I got on the LIRR, it was an hour and 10-20 minutes to my desk/or my front door.
